    Wheres my Chemist at?

Anyone remember the days of FFT when you used to have Chemists.

And you would always make sure to have 1 Chemist or A character with Chemist maxed out. Such good memories those were.

But I digress, the point of this thread is to say where have Chemists gone? And is there any possibility of putting a Chemist like class in the future.

Problem isn't the job, it's the items. Potions/Ethers are too rare/expensive to be worthwhile. You'd also generate a massive gil sink that would discourage players to play the job.

Not to mention, the only real advantage to that job would be the MP recovery (Ethers ftw). However, MP regenerates naturally now, and there's too many ways to get it back already. Ethers would just be a waste of gil at this point.

While you make an excellent point, a part of me still hopes that Chemists may find a place in FF once again.

I, as well, found chemist to be a very fun idea. The ability to multiply the effectiveness of consumable items on party members and be able to combine consumable items to create unique effects is a very creative idea for a job/class.

They would have to make the following changes tho to work:

    1. Remove HP regeneration or reduce it significantly.
    2. Remove MP regeneration or reduce it significantly (and lower the means of recovering it)
    3. Make potions/ethers more affordable, and have several tiers of each (Hi-Potions, Hi-Ethers, X-Potions, X-Ethers)
    4. Include Elixers, Remedies, and stat-boost potions. Also some AoE-type potions/ethers (megalixers maybe), that are exclusive use by the chemist.

That should be enough to make the chemist a workable job as a healer, mp-battery, and buffer. Some abilities/traits would be needed of course, but that's assumed.

Since it's easy to make gil in this game, buying items wouldn't be that much of a problem

Look on the bright side though. At least in XIV you can actually use your items on a friend, instead of having to go into a fight, bazaar your potions for 1 gil a pop, and have friends frantically /check you when they need to buy quick meds (like in CoP fights where you had to divide up forces or take some strain off a resting mage)/

I personally would love to throw bottles/urns/glass objects at my friends to help them or at my enemies to hurt them. As far as a gil sink, why not? Got to spend that gil doing something why not that?!
