The only way i can see this happening is for that MCH to have gotten incredibly lucky on Direct Criticals.I have been pointing this out all day today, I haven't figured out exactly what rotation and such happened and I will continue to test but I saw a 19k Wildfire. Which would mean that the Mch was hitting around 10k an ability till it went off!! Don't give up!! We will figure our this sequence and melt away all the hate!! lol
My best Wildfire thus far was 11k (ilvl 300 with 310 Gun), Ricochet, Split, Slug and Clean shots all got Direct Crits and i was able to drop a non crit Cooldwn in before it went off.
If the MCH got every buff under the sun at the same time and was in full 310/320, Its possible.
Would be bloody nice if we got a gauge or meter attached to the Ammunition bar to display how much Wildfire damage is presently stored. Unless i stop and squint at the flying text its super easy to miss the number in the explosion and just flat out not see how much i did. Needs to be more visible for the MCH. And the wording less vague .. What is "Some attacks"? I still haven't worked that out, >_>
Yea luckily I had BRD too because all the parties were like no MCH lol so I had to get my gear through BRD so I could gear my MCH with the Susano wep and lakshmi accs...I've also seen the no SMN parties it's a dark day in eorzea for majority of the jobs that are broken

MCH was my first job to 70 and i felt like i wasnt hitting as hard as some of the other ranged job and i feel like the heat barrel is a great idea on paper but not relly working as well as a mechanic for the job so i shelve it and lvled a sam and drk instead to 70. as op said that reason is no one wants to take a mch atm in party finder. i saved up 1100 tomes of verity and i have his 310 weapon, i believe in good faith that they with buff or change sone things in a patch or so.

I don't join parties that exclude jobs just because. Chances are the players in that group are actually bad anyway and are looking to be carried by higher DPS.

Nothing will ever....EVER make me give up Summoner.........unless it's Beastmaster. But i'm not giving it up for some fancy light flingers. I give up summoning gods to put on light shows? Give up practicing a lost art of the ancient allags to be a basic caster, psh. I will stand strong until we become god, like I did before HW.

These PF groups explicitly excluding jobs (not only MCH, but other jobs that are in need of some TLC from SE) are probably like those ilvl 315/three mistakes = kicked/one wipe = disband/high deeps/no baddies/pls skip soar groups that can't manage to get in a single clear, and clear parties fair better than them. I've been in Lakshmi groups with jobs like RDM, SAM, NIN, and MNK where I am pulling higher DPS on my BRD than them. I've also been in Susano groups with SMNs and BLMs doing very well in terms of DPS, sitting close to the top while also properly handling the mechanics.
Sadly, I can't speak much on MCH since I haven't seen many MCH in my groups (not from exclusion but I guess from where MCHs switched to other jobs after seeing how hard their job got screwed--I have encountered 2 so far in SB, one in V3.0 and the other in Bradam's Mettle).
I've never personally encountered any groups like this, but it's silly for people to exclude jobs based on things beyond their control. This isn't me saying MCH isn't in desperate need of some sort of rework, but just expressing the idiocy of assuming that a "meta" comp is the only decent comp to go with. Like I said, I've met SAMs and RDMs that barely pull over 2,000 DPS. I'm sure a skilled MCH could pull better than that, even with their design flaws.

MCH was always the lowest populated Job to begin with since they were released in 3.0.Sadly, I can't speak much on MCH since I haven't seen many MCH in my groups (not from exclusion but I guess from where MCHs switched to other jobs after seeing how hard their job got screwed--I have encountered 2 so far in SB, one in V3.0 and the other in Bradam's Mettle).
.
I rarely encountered other MCH in any 4 member dungeon and in 24 member raid most often there would only be 1 other MCH other than me or none at all. It was rare for me to see even 2 other MCH in 24 member raids.

MCH only need a good buff on many of his potency.
The rotation is fun, gameplay is good, utility is always fine. -10% on boss and 30sec of 5% dmg taken is nothing to laugh at.
Beside the whole "let's buff potency" thing which by itself would be enough as long as handled properly.
One thing that must be changed is Rook Overdrive
The concept is actually very nice, you consumme your turret in a one big shot.
In practice, the damage they gave to the skill is currently too low.
Basically, using this skill and resummoning the turret assap result in a 15sec without a turret.
So beside a few cherry pick situation like Susano rocks or Lakshmi bubbleadds, there is no situation where you wanna loose 15sec of turret.
A good start would be to buff the skill damage so that using it does not mean DPS loss NOR gain.
It just convert the next 30sec of dmg into a big shot.
Doing so would make it a much more interesting skill as it would basically be an on demand huge burst and MCH-DPS would not be penalized for using it on priority target. At the same time, we do not want that skill to do more damage than what the turret would do in 30sec otherwise it would be another "use on CD" skill.
And I do believe the beauty of this skill is to be a situational skill that you use when you need it only. Not whenever it's up.
I think Overdrive just need a complete revamp.
Remove the part where the Turret is destroyed and replace the current attack with a new attack such as....
Rook Turret - fires 3 hits of 250 potency shots in a gatling gun animation effect in one attack.
Bishop Turret - create a electric field that hits 3 times in one attack with a potency of 180 per hit.
Overdrive cooldown to use the skill again is already long enough thus the Turret does not need to be removed/destroyed.
