It's popped up a few times on my server as well tonight, though they were really polite about it. Had some time to kill before dinner and I wanted to learn Susano EX, asked a couple of learning parties if I could join, and they refused me because MCH has low damage. It's a mentality being pushed because MCH aren't "meta" right now, and goodness knows you can't play this game if you aren't in the meta. /sarcasm

It's not all of the parties, but it's enough of them that its noticeable.

I can see this happening with SCH's too. Looks like I'll only be able to pug on either my PLD or on my alt who is a dedicated SAM. Fantastic......

This is why balance is important guys. Sadly it's not enough for the jobs to be just viable. They need to be competitive or certain jobs are going to get locked out because people are idiots.

Pretty much this. Whenever I see any class being singled out like this it's often by players who aren't all that skilled in their own right. MCH can't put out the /best/ numbers right now, but a MCH who knows what they're doing is far more preferable to me than a subpar SAM who is just spamming whatever looks cool. I can't tell you how many times I've out DPS'd the supposedly easiest class to currently play in content simply because they're rolling their face all over the keyboard.

--> just be the leader of the team as Machinist, so it's not "against the bard" but "sorry we already have a ranged physical dps support" (still write MCH only ;p )

I geared my MCH to 314 and joined a lot of Susan and Boobie Lady farm groups. Never had a problem or even an comment regarding my class.

That being said, the DPS gap can get pretty big despite having mapped the fights out to get the maximal potency. It wouldn't be bad if we had a significant impact on party DPS or performance support wise, but alas, it is how it is. Fingers crossed for the next patch.
