Any way the wind blows question

Hi,

It has been a few times that during the any way the wind blows event, i have seen people able to move, not affected by the immobility debuff, and not affected as well when they are into an aoe. The last person in this case was running everywhere the whole time, like making fun of us.

Is this some kind of cheating or bug exploit ? Do they win anything like this ? Or is this only a trick of some sort where you can be on the scene but not participating at all ?

Uhh, the only thing I could think of would be they did some gate that placed them on the platform before and just didn't jump off. In that case they wouldn't really participate in the wind blow gate, so they'd be unaffected by the debuff and able to move, but wouldn't win anything.
Second explanation would be cheating.

You only get knocked back a short distance. It's completely possible to stand near the center, get knocked back and eliminated yet still be on the platform - free roaming. The person you seen probably wasn't taunting, just watching the event after they lost.

Both answers are correct. I did that GATE plenty of times and those are the only two reasons I can think of, both fully legitimate. If you get hit by Typhon but are not pushed off the platform, which is possible through various patterns, you lose (even though you remain on the platform). As such, you have free roaming, but are no longer a participant in the GATE. If you were already standing on the platform from a prior GATE but never got off it, you are not a participant in the GATE, and thus, are unaffected by the AoEs. I'll add that the AoEs take your character's base position into account. So if you are dancing and move around a lot, it still takes your base location into account, not your character's sprite.

I see, thanks for the answers. I should have guess for the first reason, but didn't know for the second one. I will feel less weird when i see that again

I even have an answer for when i was asking myself "so, how does it work for these guys moving around by dancing ?".
