Magnai the Older's Prospects of Marriage

I'm a little curious to see how this will play out. I was incredulous when he thought he was destined to marry Cirina, nevertheless I think it'd be somewhat cute. Thoughts on how his future marriage might play out? I really liked his bravado and his whole character in general.

Well I am not sure if he ever gets a woman if he does not change his attitude. I mean he even tells us that he made every woman come to him so that HE can decide who his bride will be. I do believe that a woman should have a say in that too and I am not sure if a woman would love to be seen that way. Also he does not want someone like the WoL, who is good looking and can be a good fighter too. (Yet he likes Cirina because she is cute and can fight..>_>)

So if he does not change his way of thinking I believe he does not deserve to find his moon.

I'd be kind of surprised if he didn't end up with Sadu by the end of the 4.x series.

The two outwardly hate each other's guts, but at the same time harbor a certain respect for one another due to their battle prowess.

Not to mention it would mirror the tale of Azim and Nhaama for them to finally get together after spending so much time fighting with each other.

But Sadu is no cute little thing and he says no to our WoL because we are a good fighter. Also she is the leader of her tribe so I am not even sure if a romance between them would be possible. But yes someone like Sadu would teach him a bit about more respect for tough women.

Well the Oronir have an arrogant god-complex that Magnai the Older embodies - an arrogance only matched by their combat prowess.

Basically, Magnai is not just looking for a wife. Per the creation myth the Oronir hold to, the Dawn Father (Azim) created the first Oronir so that a part of him may be with with the Dusk Mother. Magnai the Older, with his gold shining eyes and unchallenged power among the Oronir, is believed to be a modern incarnation of the Dawn Father's will. Likewise the Oronir believe that an avatar of the Dusk Mother dwells among the other Xaela tribes and that it is a fulfillment of the original intent of the Dawn Father that these two individuals join in the spiritual marriage that the Dawn Father and the Dusk Mother were never able to consecrate due to their nature (the sun is never in the sky with the moon). The Dusk Mother avatar can apparently be discerned if the Dawn Father avatar among the Oronir looks into her eyes and senses the true nature of her essence. This was the basis of the original spat with Sadu and why Magnai wished to look into Cirina's eyes.

If the avatar of the Dusk Mother is not found among the women of the other Xaela Tribes then Magnai the Older will live out his days alone and unmarried. This is at least what can be inferred when you speak to him on the matter after Cirina leaves following their first meeting.

Magnai the Older suspected that Cirina was the avatar of the Dusk Mother because she has all the qualities that have been expected of such avatars in ages past (from what I could tell). Frankly, if Magnai the Older were only looking for a spouse then he would simply have wed one of the Oronir women or any other tribeswoman whose family would like greater ties to the Oronir. This also explains why Magnai is averse to women who he sees as good fighters (which is actually a high standard for a warlord like him), if such a trait is seen as uncommon to Dusk Mother avatars.

I find this all to be unusually romantic for a culture that so venerates warfare and being tough as nails. But what I love about the Oronir is that they represent a small break from the established lore on the Xaela race to establish their own culture and path, something which I would like to see more of among the other races in the future.

I'm leaning towards him getting with Cirina personally, someone to moderate his temper and his ego.

That being said I loved the oronir the most of all the tribes we saw, mostly because their attitude and mentality really appeals to me.

I'd prefer it if his attitude didn't change, especially since a large part of the appeal of his character involves his arrogance, smugness and lust for a good battle.

There's also absolutely no need for a fictional tribal race to conform to modern day ideals where relationships are concerned. Some Xaela might but we're dealing with a race that has a tribe that literally marries its men and women to horses and another where the men do all the cooking and cleaning whilst the women do the hunting.

Cirine is in love with Hien. Go back and talk to her, and its pretty clear. However, there are two options for the Sun. Sadu, and Yugire. He is looking for a warrior that is etheral as mist, after all. And Yugiri is a shadowwalker, and her last name is Mistwalker. However, he does defend Sadu when his attended started bad mouthing her for refusing to look the Sun in the eyes.
