    Fix the AoE stuff!

No idea if this is where this is meant to go, but here it is
Apparently the game has a issue where it's not updating where a character is positioned at the time of a attack, this happens most with Malboro type guys, but Ive seen it everywhere from bosses to birds..
The AoE thing shows on the ground, you get out of it.. by strafing or back stepping or what have you,yet even though you are WELL out of the AoE area, and sometimes, well away from the monster, your hit with what ever lovely tricks that monster put out.
I tested this 4 times today just to see if maybe I was wrong, but still, Malboro puts AoE on ground, i move to the left outside its AoE, and still get the host of status effects I tried it left, right and backward, even hit sprint and was well outta attack range and still got the effects.
Against some things this is a mere annoyance, nothing more then a stray hit, but aginst say a FATE where its all Malboro creatures, it tends to end you fun

I had this problem on my old laptop, when I upgraded, it's response time was faster, no idea if there is a relation to that but I find dodging aoe now not much of an issue, it was so bad before that it made high end content virtually unplayable for me.

    Processor : Intel (R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @2.67GHz 2.67 GHz
    RAM : 8.00 GB

I have more RAM installed but it does not detect the other 8 GB no idea why - gotta love Windows

Someone mentioned that there is "invisible" lag - if your too far away from the server and that might be my issue, that the delay is just too much - which i can accept, I am in the US but play on EU servers because the people are often more friendly and relaxed - and i hoped my FC could get a house (yea, right).

RAM doesn't do anything about connection to the server.

I hate to break it to you, but if you have more RAM installed and Windows reports only 8, it's not Windows, but it's probably your motherboard. I know I came across a HP motherboard at one point where some genius engineer put a 32-bit memory controller on a motherboard designed for a 64-bit processor. End result: You couldn't use more than 4GB or RAM on it no matter what you did. I've heard of several motherboards which physically limit the RAM well below what's addressable by a 64-bit processor to cut down on costs, so that's probably the case for you.

I am an Aussie player and my ping usually sits pretty high towards the 300+ I've been using WTFast to try to ease it and my connection has gone from poor to excellent, with some lag spikes but between the new laptop and WTFast there is definitely a noticeable change in playing, hopefully you sort it out, I can relate to your frustration as I've just gone through it myself.

make sure you have a good fps, as you don't see the AoE late which make your reaction slower. I had the same issue with my old gaming machine, and I had to lower the graphic settings to standard instead of high and worked perfectly.

to check fps, open system and in the display setting tab, you will see it in the top right corner. had mine increased from 12 to 27fps.

    hope this helps.

This has been more noticeable since SB dropped, but of course for players on the NA data center your ping may have changed and may be adding 100-200ms (round trip) lag making it harder to dodge things - especially if network congestion is causing dropped packets and the like.

One trick I use to work around high ping is to press a skill, any skill, usually one on CD, to force another packet out as soon as I clear the AoE.

I'm not sure why or how this works, but I guess that extra bit of info saying "you tried and fail to use this skill while standing here verses the danger zone," sent back to me often works to force the server to see that yes, I stepped out of the AoE in time and tried to do something else.

The fact it's gotten bad again is most likely server congestion and the move, but this has always been an issue.

Any action or even a change of direction (I think) forces a position check, otherwise the game client is only polled for position every 0.2 seconds - IIRC.
