    Awesomely informative post, thank you very much for the number-crunching.
    I tried out the v3.0 vs v4.0 rotation thingie and I was able to beat the Susano ex dummy with the v3.0. I couldn't do that with v4.0 in my puny gear. I think this demonstrates very well how borked BLM is now.

    Issue I'm running into trying your suggestion.

    Assuming 3F4, f1, 3F4 transpose set up

    Ice1 only reduces MP cost by 50% on Fire (25% in Fire 3)d

    This means I end up with about 600 MP when transposing. I am heavily at the mercy of the MP Tick timer in this case (0-3 seconds)

    Foul->T3->Blizz4 does indeed give me 3 ticks, but Fire3 can complete before the 4th tick completely tops off (Spells still cost MP in ice stance) if the MP tick doesn't happen quick enough, meaning any time I may have gained via the transpose, I lose based on the tick. It's either wait and time for the MP tick, or go into the next phase at significantly less than full MP

    Even accounting for Thundercloud (2k less mana spent refreshing it), I would still be entering Fire Stance at around 12.8k mp instead of 14.8k, completely because the MP tick was off.

    Did some more testing. I ran Susano multiple times and forced myself to run the 4.0 rotation. The planets have to align for me to reach my DPS on the 3.0 rotation.

    Since today is the weekly reset and I'll be able to acquire some Omega pieces in a few hours, has anyone come up with a good, thought-out strategy for gearing? My gut is telling me SpS, but my 3.0 rotation makes completing AF while slamming T3P procs so easy that it's whispering to my ear, "give me the D..irect Hit".

    I'm very sceptical about that F1 spam rotation, let us know how your Omega goes.
    I'd prefer the 3.x rotation to that, if we're reduced to mindlessly spamming Fire again, I'm done with this game.

    Hey Galvuu, seen you around on the forums recently. Definitely a respectable BLM from what I can tell. While I am not an amazing BLM in practice, I do enjoy my theory crafting, since it is my favorite class.

    I have been testing out Openers/Normal Rotations at about 1100 SpS with 3 min rotations, so here is what I have personally seen from the openers and rotations that I could best figure out.

    First off. 4.0 Opener vs 3.0 Sharpcast Opener
    People have been around saying the 3.0 Opener is better cause it has initially higher PPS. But the problem is, it delays Foul by about 10-15s (depending on your exact opener) and wont catch up to be able to double Foul for about 4 min into a fight. Since you should ALWAYS save Foul for UI phase do to the chance at using it last before switching back to Astral making the mana tick problem go away. 4.0 has 0 problem with this, Foul fits in nearly perfect.
    You seem to be in agreement with this, based on your fflogs. But for others.

    Second. 4.0 Rotation vs 3.0 Rotation
    When it comes to a dummy parse, 4.0 is better, but not by game breaking amounts. The problem with only showing the PPS of 20-35s, is it doesn't show how everything stacks up over time, especially Foul timing and Dots. Foul always needing to be used during UI, and not wanting to overwrite dots without T3P. Now on the flip side, 3.0 is better on a dummy parse, if you get a T3P at least every 2 our of 3 Astral Fire phases... which is RNG, but very plausible with having to cast T3 over T1. Also 3.0 has the advantage of movement friendlier phases during actual fights... for now.
    I do believe once we get back to 1600+ SpS, 4.0 will be safe enough to just always do. During end of HW, it was safe to cast 4 spells before refreshing with F1... albeit unnecessary, but doable.

    My opinion: Use 4.0 when you know the fight wont require movement (like all of Lakshmi...) and 3.0 when you have to move (like all of Susano...)

    So now my personal opinion on your proposed changes.

    Raise our base MP by any number between 600~1000
    Unnecessary, but I guess it will help those who are more casual and won't understand the purpose of attempting to put Foul last in your UI phase.

    Return the 20 potency we lost on Fire IV and Blizzard IV
    YES 100%... I don't know why they got rid of our raging strikes AND reduced potency... BLM was never super broken OP

    Increase AF/UI duration by 1 second
    Kind of stated my opinion in part 2 about this... personally just think it is due to lack of SpS right now, once we get all of Omega Normal/Savage gear, it should be much safer. 970 SpS from gear at ilvl 314, 1524 SpS after just Omega normal gear.

    Changes to Umbral Heart: gains in damage and AF refresh duration
    I guess? Hearts do feel sorta lackluster, but I don't think adding Potency to them is the answer. Just adding potency back to F4 will increase overall 4.0 potency since that rotation casts more F4s in a fight theoretically than 3.0. The AF addition is cool... but I don't know... having Umbral Ice related skills increase Astral Fire? seems odd to me.

    Make Foul 680 potency
    I mean sure? Potency is potency. BLM should be the SAM of casters. Is this where the potency belongs? Beats me.

    Kudos to Eddo for his BLM calculator.

    Let me know if you wanna know my rotations and all that. Let's hope 4.05 brings some much need changes to BLM. At least we aren't MCH, amirite?
