Question for you SAM

Was running Omega V1 the other day and the fight was parsed. When my friend gave me the numbers I was shocked to find that, as a BRD, I had done double the DPS as one of SAM in the group. My question is, what would be your guess as to what that SAM was failing to do? Since every other thread here asks SE to nerf this class, what exactly can cause such a gap?

I know you have Sen and the other resource but I have no clue as to what that 2nd resource is used for.

yes, my question is what is making him bad? I don't know enough about SAM to understand and it might/might not be as obvious as the MNK that only stands at the rear of the boss.

Not using his oGCD's which consume Kenki, the 2nd resource, spamming only Kaiten Midare, or possibly refusing to use any Iaijutsu at all would be my guesses.

Maybe he died during the fight?

Or worse... a Femroe! Female Roegadyn are confirmed to be the worst samurai. /jk

Even if he wasn't doing ogcds he wouldn't be half the bards damage. I can do 2800 just cycling my combos on a dummy. No Iaijutsu, no ogcds.

Simply put, he probably stopped pressing buttons.

He might have lost a lot of DPS through moving. Its one of the biggest melee traps: People play melee DPS and dont realize they do really low damage because they maximize their time moving around for mechanics, doing the fight "correctly", not understanding that running away from the bad stuff like a ranged DPS is not enough - you have to minimize the running time and distance, and move in a way that lets you do maximum DPS ASAP.

Lazy defeats all OP. To get doubled by a BRD that about it. And youd have to cut out quite a bit of even the simple stuff. Not even getting into proper use of Hissatsus outside of Kaiten. I won't say I'm particularly good at SAM but I'm pretty confident I could match a BRDs DPS without any strain to my normal relaxed play, would probably still be above it as is.

His basic rotation. If he did nothing but build up his sens and blow them on Midare every time he got 3, he'd still manage average DPS
