Since 4.0, older hunts get destroyed so quickly. The devs seem to have tried to improve on this by making them have higher HP in patch 4.01, but I think a better system would be if you could "Map Sync" to the expansion level cap the map is from to actually damage the hunt mob. So level 50 on ARR maps, level 60 on HW maps.
There was talk before about Syncing down to a party member so you can enjoy leveling with them. Another great use of syncing would be to keep older hunts a little bit challenging and not touch the mob and it's dead in less than 3 seconds. Maybe at the top of the Duty List where quests and FATE info goes, there could be a small button you press to sync down to the maps cap.
But since HW, older hunts haven't been that popular except for 1 Anima Weapon update. For ARR A ranks, you might get 3-4 people interested that are free right then where as SB A ranks get flooded with people. So there will need to be an incentive to do older hunts again if a system like this is added.
I was thinking that all mobs could give the weekly capped level 70 tomes to be an incentive for people to do older hunts. With HW, A ranks gave 10 capped tomes, S rank 30 tomes. This will most likely be the case again in SB for SB mobs, but older mobs most likely won't give anything except uncapped tomes like in 3.X.
So say if ARR A ranks gave 3 tomes, S rank gave 10, HW A ranks gave 5 tomes, S rank gave 20, I think a lot more people would be interested in doing them. If this does get implemented, I'd like it if hunts were made a bit harder as well with the "Map Sync" also giving an Item Level sync that's a bit lower than the level cap. So ARR map Map Sync would sync you down to level 50 and ilvl 80, HW Map Sync to level 60 and ilvl 200. At max level 50 and level 60 item level, older hunts are still quite quick to die so I think a lower ilvl would make things more interesting and as faceroll easy as they are when you are 50 item levels stronger than what the content was designed for.
