Patch 1.20 for me was a roller coaster of emotions. The game is going in the right direction, in terms of combat, combos ftw, and the gc quests are great (wayy too easy it seems though). However my problem is how monotonous the real epic battles seem. Think about it, the past 3 fights: darkhold, ifrit, and moogle, all favored one class in particular.
What I'm trying to say is, stop making certain classes favored for fights, I'm tired of every guild on my server stacking one class. In an mmo I think it should be about user experience. In general there are people who like to play the game with varied classes, it makes more dynamic fights. Not everyone wants to play with all archers, or all lancers.
The combos are for the most part balanced, however I think some aspects still need tweaking. In the past week the main reason I haven't logged on is because most people want a certain job, or they are still doing very monotonous things. I like to play how I want, I want dynamic game-play environment.
Not only this but as most can tell population is drastically dropping from server to server. This is bad because then your chances to do things you want to do drop as well. An example would be logging on when everyone is running leves or moogle, yet you wish to do ifrit. When shouting you are only able to find 4 people willing to do it. Obvious answer is to wait, but when you wait all day and still no one wants to do it, theres a problem. And i'm sure some will say, "O new content slow your roll", well the same could be said for leves, I want to do stronghold or leves or level up, well everyone is on moogle. In a sense you loose variety with lower populations because for the most part and also because as of now it's mostly tight knit static parties/elitist groups that don't send you invites to anything.
All in all I think a raise in level cap would fix the game, along with cross server dungeon ques, not only this but a bit more balancing in terms of class play-ability, anyone who says archer isn't favored, well have you played the game recently? Is all I can really say to that. Finally, I'd like to say I'm not bashing the game at all, I love the game, but to me its extremely monotonous, however I think its mostly because everyone is level 50.... Even if I don't play much in the coming year I plan on still playing because I want to see this game succeed. Oh well, let the flaming begin I suppose
PS. I feel as if the new changes to loot have been a slap in the face, it seems as if it will take over 100 kills to get enough totems, considering I don't get lucky and get the drop before that, however already being 100+ kills on ifrit, my luck seems to pretty much mitigate any chance of getting it any other way than totems.
