    Honestly, the system doesn't just reward tanks or healers. It rewards anybody in a role that is needed. There is your answer, original poster. There are tons of dps for every healer out there, and there are still plenty of healers for every tank. That's why you almost always see group in need of tank. I've seen the group in need of a healer msg 1 time ever

    Then play a tank then. Whats that? you dont want to? Thats exactly why the reward exists in the first place


    stop whining about this crap and get more active about why tanks are so rare in df and instanced instances, maybe, just maybe if you bothered to play one, youd understand the gripes and reasons they have to keep boosting the "please queue in with randos" reward

    I see player in need for healer regularly, and I have seen it pop for DPS on hests and trials often. It's just not as common as tanks.

    Besides, this isn't about only supporting tanks. ALL players have access to tank and healer jobs. What this instead does is incentivises non-tank or healer mains to swap into that role for the high grade materia, which has the positive result of shrinking the wait times for other players. EVERYONE BENEFITS.

    Seriously, you could happily spend all that shiny new materia on your actual main job for raid content, allowing your main job to benefit from this system, if you are willing to queue as a tank a couple times a week.

    In answer to the topic title, I say; No, you don't.

    In general answer, the adventurer in need is neither a tank, nor healer reward. It is a reward designed to incentivize players to run duty finder content in which ever role is currently in most demand. The fact that it's almost always tank, and if not then healer, reflects the relative scarcity of those roles. If you have a problem with that, play one yourself.

    i have played tank for a while now and the only reason i can think of are the DPS-players. mechanically there is nothing wrong with tanking, it's actually really easy and fun. but the other players, almost exclusively the DPS, ruin the whole tanking experience and make the difference between a smooth run and a run through hell.

    i really have tried it, but the bonus isn't worth the hassle o.o/

    so if DPS-players stop treating tanks like shit maybe more people are willing to play tanks, wich reduces the queue times for the DPS-players and increase their chance to get the role in need bonus. but yeah, this will not happen...

    i think this whole thing is a self created problem by the DPS-players. and now they want being rewarded for that? i don't think so...

    Speaking as someone who been gaming since the beginning of mmo's (i'm 35, the internet went public when i was 10) i've seen the evolution of online gaming.

    I heal and dps (scholar 70, summoner 70, bard 70, white mage 64)

    One thing about mmo's using the trinity, is that there is always tons more dps than tank and healer. The reason for this is that tank and healer have more responsibility. Yes dps have responsibility too, but if a tank or heal fails theres it's a wipe, if a dps fails it is usually just a rez from healer.

    On top of that tank and heal have to learn mechanics in order to perform there stuff, and healers have to dps when healing is not needed, where dps mainly just have to attack and dodge, sometimes they r needed for mechanics but not often. In the case mechanics are needed by dps, tank or healer have to guide them through them.

    Further to that in alot of groups as a tank/heal mistake can cause a wipe. They tend to get grief off other players for mistakes because we tanks and healers are not allowed to make a single mistake we have to be perfect all the time, in case of dps healer rez's then usually the tank or heal gets blamed for them dying even if it is their own fault.

    As a result of this most people prefer dps as they only need to manage their own rotations, they don't get player grief, don't have to learn as much, and when needed get given the info by tank/heal (i play heal/dps and have to guide mechanics alot in dungeons that need dps following them).

    This is why in most games there are more dps queing than other roles, so most games include incentives for the other roles. Now i am not saying that is the case in all dps, there are some who learn the mechanics, and do the mechanic explaining. But from my years of mmo gaming i have found that is a majority. This is why incentives are included to fill tank/heal roles and shorten dps ques. This experiance has happened to me accross many differant mmo games

    To finish a story from my own experience a few days ago. I was in Dzemael Darkhold as a healer, tank did a big pull no one was standing in the purple, the eye was flying in doing mass damage, i kept them alive but drained my mana. So i stop explain the eye encounters and the standing in purple mitigate. We get past that carry on, get to the part with the aoe crystals. The tank big pulls again the dps (both ranged) and the tank are too close to the crystal standing in it's orange aoe circle. I am spamming aoe heal like crazy trying to keep them alive my mana drains, we wipe. So i stop again explain about the crystals we pull away from cluster get past. Further on again another crystal, standing in the aoe again. Ontop of that people were standing in the orange attack ares for mobs too. Nobody was new to that dungeon there was no first time message, it was like they thought, no need to dodge n follow mechanics healer can do all the work.

    That run was for my roulette, why would i run a second time and risk another nightmare like that without incentives. Fact is given how often i encounter stuff like that, if it isn't for my daily roulette i won't do it again without in need bonus.

    Just a thought: if they gave dps the xp bonus for running roulettes that would make dps level up faster, making people finish their dps jobs faster, giving them time to maybe queue as healers or tanks.
    I'm planning to level a healer up once my current dps is done. But it takes forever to get the necessary xp. Then, when I'm at my healer/tank it'll take half the time cause of the constant bonus.
    So I thought, if I got that xp boost on dps instead, this would be 70 in no time, making it possible for me to use healer/tank or whatever is in need more, which I don't do atm, cause I need the xp for my dps class.
