    I'm very drunk and this made me laugh very hard.

    You wait outrageously long queue times because of the lack of tanks and healers. You want more of us to queue up so those times lower-- thus the rewards. If you reward only DPS your queues will only get longer. lmao

    Seriously though, I agree that some people don't like the responsibility. I myself don't necessarily like it, but I still did it in other MMOs because of the level of engagement that a tank had, far far beyond the level of engagement a DPS had. I'd say playing Monk and Samurai is more engaging to me than playing Warrior or Paladin.

    For Monk specifically, there are just so many things I need to optimize and pay attention to. I have 3 oGCDs that I should be using on cooldown. I also need to pay attention to chakras because of Deep Meditation. Positionals are like a fun puzzle, and they make a huge difference in DPS. I also need to upkeep Dragon Kick, Twin Snakes and Demolish.

    This is what I'm talking about. That WAR spamming 1-2-3 aggro combo and popping a CD and running out of an AoE every now and then? I can watch Netflix while doing that. There is very little engagement in FFXIV tanking outside of optimizing your DPS.

    You know, the more stuff that healers and tanks get, the more players will gravitate towards them to get that stuff, and the DPS queue times get lower as a result.

    If there were no gratification for playing a tank/healer, you wouldn't see nearly as many, and all queues for DPS would be over 30 minutes.

    The fact that the OP doesn't want to come back to read the replies just screams that they know that their logic is flawed, and they don't want to hear any counter arguments that would invalidate them.

    Apple and Oranges. Both have their own combat system and evolve around it. SE always has been for more easier paced combat which the majority can adapt to.
    If you like TERA more (and their quirky '0.5 second reaction time to perform your iFrame or the mechanic will kill you' playstyle), then go over there and have your fun.

    sigh am I really allowing myself to be taken in by this? Alright then...

    Here's the thing, SE isn't specifically rewarding tanks and healers. They're rewarding people for playing the role where there is the greatest shortage of players. The community mindset of people in general (not specifically anyone), preferring to play a DPS such that there is way too many DPS in the queue compared to tanks/healers is the reason why they get rewarded. If the community shifted towards tanking and healing over DPS (which I don't know HOW they'd pull that off?). The community in general also has a mindset of blaming the tank/healer for anything going wrong, even if it was that particular DPS at fault. So it puts a lot of extra responsibility on tanks/healers because if anything is less than perfect, they'll get blamed. For example, DPS A stands in a one-hit kill mechanic (even through shields etc), "Healer where was my heals?" (yes, I've seen that happen before, when the healer could do nothing because it was an instant-kill mechanic, thus the DPS fault, but healer gets blamed anyway). This puts extra pressure on tanks/healers, thus shying people away from the role.

    EDIT: And for the record, during HW launch there was a greater shortage of DPS compared to tanks/healers. So DPS got adventurer in need. So it can happen, though the stars do have to align for it.

    As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

    All joking aside, I would like to see unique mounts for each class instead of just for tanks. Especially since they're only for ex+ duties where there seems to be less of a deficit of them compared to dungeons etc.
