Third, the only reason isn't the amount of jobs, HW proved that. Adding more tanks wont convince dps players to become a tank. The real issue is SE is going backwards with these classes and making them less rewarding and engaging to play and driving some of the tanks and healers away into dps where they feel their effort can mean something. SE needs to find a way to make these jobs more fun to play in general, not less.

They got some cool mechanics in big fights for them, but outside that, they are extremely dull and playing well yields hardly more than not outside of raids.

DPS are rewarded with faster queue times. Looking at a 16 minute leveling roulette queue as a dps right now.

Just make it that tanking and healing are just as fun as DPSing and the whole thing will balance out eventually.

The rewards aren't about the effort you put in. The rewards are to encourage role diversity because too many people are playing DPS. (Although I have to say, they really should have seen this coming when they made the decision to only implement two new DPS jobs in 4.0... just another instance of lack of foresight along with the VIT tank damage reversion...)

They are doing this because about the only other thing they can do to get more people to play tank/healer is to buff up the DPS of tanks/healers so that they are on par with actual DPS jobs. Which not only wouldn't be very balanced, but as a DPS you'd probably be even more upset about that than what they're trying to do here.

And no queue ever popped ever again. The end.
Do you think the 50K exp bonus rewarded to tanks/healers is enough of an incentive to sign us with these jobs, really ?

When I sign as healer, it's defintely not for the rewards, but because I like my job. Want more healers and tanks? make people enjoy these jobs.

I know it's a radical idea, but they could make tanking more engaging rather than something you can do while watching Netflix if you're just holding aggro and mitigating damage with CDs. Of course that would require an overhaul of how tanking is designed in this game.

They're not giving more rewards to tanks cause they think tanks are extra special. They're giving rewards to the people that there aren't enough of to make the instance go.

Tanking is engaging enough if you're doing it right, trust me. (Also keep in mind, there are also people who shy away from tanks *because* they carry too much responsibility as it is, so what you propose would be the inverse of a solution for these people.)

If people just don't want to tank, they won't, not unless they made a change that allowed them to do as much (or more) DPS than a DPS job. This is really the only other sort of thing they can do without utterly imbalancing the role trifecta.

Based on the fact that I've seen the RiN change to healer several times since the change was made last night, I dare say that more people have been queueing as tank and that this change has been working.

Want more healers and tanks? make people enjoy these jobs.
Again, this is something beyond SE's control (without, again, completely imbalancing the roles). MMO players tend to like playing DPS. That's presumably why we've got more DPS classes than anything else and why they made the (questionable) decision of only releasing DPS classes on this expansion.

They could make a tank that was the mostest funnest thing on the planet to play, but there is a sizable DPS crowd that would simply never touch it because they would rather DPS.

You can lead a horse to the water but you cannot make him drink.
