Palace of the dead in Duty Finder

The reason i am suggesting this is due to the fact that during prime time and on weekend south shroud becomes completely unplayable. I tried earlier today on the odin server to do botany leves and found it to be impossible to even finish one node featured in the leve i tried to do. I imagine the similar lag happening to new players doing quests and leves for their battle classes in the zone. Instead by having a duty finder version it would mean those people would not need to all be in quarrymill every time they want to do potd.

Same, would also be nice to be able to start it from wherever. Another thing that might reduce congestion there though would be allowing you to reset your run or choose a different file from the instanced room you go in between runs. While I'm levelling I just head back to south shroud to reset back to 50

This seems to be impossible from a technical standpoint.

Palace of the Dead is a special dungeon system, and it requires the player to actually be in South Shroud to queue up for it (try it -- make a party and have 1 person standing anywhere else. You'll get an error.)

I don't think it is actually possible to put it in the DF and allow people outside South Shroud to Q up for it; it probably has some kind of code or netcode reason as to why. For all we know, it could be because it uses a separate server system altogether apart from the normal duty servers.

I remember during the Stormblood Early Access, FC was complaining about being unable to get past Pipin's wall but yet I was fine in Palace of the Dead.

What you call an impossible technical standpoint just sounds like poor (and fixable) design to me. They need to fix the code so that being in South Shroud is no longer required. It's not like we're talking about a major data architecture change (like for inventory or something) here.

The better technical point to make would have been that it might be more difficult to make it work with the whole "2 save" thing. Being more difficult wouldn't mean it'd be impossible. They could either do it by having 2 separate choices in DF (one for each save), or by having it as a popup upon selecting to queue. Or by making it as its own menu in like the character menu and having the save pre-chosen there.

Yes they all require coding changes, but any change requires coding changes.

Very few things are "impossible", just some things require more code changes than others.

If that's the case with U having to be in south shroud then yes that would be a problem I guess that just putting it in the DF would not fix. To simply put it my idea would be having the actually queuing put into in DF, possibly also create a potd menu option in which U can change the two save files and have a version npc's for weapons and sacks in major cities. But this is merely a suggestion as of course not knowing the inner workings of the game, i don't know what can and can't be done. The other thing i suppose then also they could implement is the instances they had for the stormblood zones in south shroud if the df option is not viable. Also was my first time posting, I did realise after i put it in the wrong forum is this something i can fix or will one of the mods need to move it?
