How many people have multiple houses?

This would help the situation a lot IMHO. I know it means someone actually working with players to do it, but I think that SE needs to go to players with more than one personal house and have them nominate which one they want to keep. I'm sure that some compensation would need to be agreed. but afterwards, SE could implement the one house per server, per account change. And if players refuse to cooperate, declare eminent domain and pick for them.

Compensation in the form of give them the full cost of the house and plot back and save their furniture so that it can be reclaimed anytime within the next X amount of days or something. I mean that'd be fair wouldn't it?

Really, this is what needs to happen. Give people a large advance notice, like two or three months, to let whatever houses they don't want auto-demo. Then if the timer runs out and they aren't in compliance with the limit, just strip everything except for the first personal house and first FC house they bought. Send them back all their gil for plots/permits and give them a nice long timer on furniture storage so they can figure out what to do with it all. That's the only way I see it be fair for everyone.
