How many people have multiple houses?

For Balmung with people who want all 8 characters plus 8 housing (based on the previous 4.0 consensus chart, 19000 active account/players) , we probably would have needed at least 300,000 plots assuming wards had all small plots only excluding apartments. (You can get apartment and housing together which is kind of funny). Right now, there are only about 2300 plots every world and assuming that there might be plenty of people who want Shirogane will end up grabbing ward zone they never wanted. Perhaps Square Enix should refund everyone and redo the system to instance so people -can- get the housing they want in the zone they want to stay in. Make FC ward too so members can purchase plots in FC ward or something. Work it out. Even large and medium are more limited than smalls and apartments.

The interior of the house is already an instance. All SE would have to do is make the exterior part of that instance as well and tell the current owners the new way to access it. No need to buyout and force existing owners to start over. You will lose the neighborhood feel but that can be managed as well. Just make the current housing entry areas like the various lands/cities and allow all users access. If you keep the beaches, shops and other things like that as a communal area it should be more vibrant than the currently empty wards you see on many servers. Add a gate that lets you pick whose house you go to and it is complete. To help vary the look maybe allow an option to see your neighbors houses like they do in Wildstar.

Offering housing to all players would bring a ton of player activity to neighborhoods. I think that's a big part of why it's a ghost town right now; everything is spread out across 12 wards and I'm guessing a good portion of the houses are owned by people and FCs who are mostly inactive or never visit them. Giving everyone access to instanced housing with non-instanced neighborhood hangouts would immediately breathe life back into all of these empty areas.

Something neat that could be done with the instancing is linking them to various hubs like apartments are connected to their lobbies.

The current wards could be snipped so that you access the entrances and a small common area which has the vendors / boards in them, so you can still see your neighbors then wander down a path that gives access to the instances.

They could also get a bit more creative with the plots. An island with a beach that can be decorated for one, maybe a little village? It could also mean that the inside and outside of the houses could become one thing with functional windows and balconies.

They could also more directly monetize multiple houses on a character so people wouldn't need to stuff around creating alts and fc's that are only used for extra homes, like Rift does.

I 100% would have liked to have seen a upgrade system. Buy the plot for a set price and have the option to upgrade or expand the building over time an gil. Also I would like to put my five cents in that I don't agree with the rp'ers or people saying rp'ers need multiple houses. I'm a rp'er I came from Balmung with 0 hope of getting a house. Shoot even moving to a under populated server my husband and I had to wait till a house finally popped up. It's a small house but least I can work on the crops to help my guild mates out with coloring their chocobos and leveling them. I've been rotating my FC members in and out of who can use the stables at the small house in order to help them. I'd say apartment are a thing but they are all taken on this server too. Not that I'm surprised as I'm on the server with the 2 people owning 28 some odd houses...

I use to be on the side that yes they earned it and it was fair but.. the ward is pretty empty to really say it's being put to use. They don't seem to like people visiting. And while I get it is their memories as they so kindly put it in a interview I read about them ... If you are playing a mmo you have to expect to see other people.. You can't just buy a whole ward of houses and think oh you'll never see anyone or no one will complain about what you did. Against the rules or not. While no it is not their fault for how SE has the system set up.. it is their fault for the attitude they presented and painted themselves out for the rest to see.

I would like to bring up even if the one house limit was in place most would still be unable to get a house.. it would be the same issue just a handful more would be able to own a house. At this point it's a giant mess of a system that may be easier to fix if they refunded everyone and just rebooted it all over. I'd rather a fair system where everyone can enjoy it instead of the current system where all I can do is sit and wait for the new housing area to release and home I'm one of the first people online to get my FC a med or large house before they are all gone.

Are you sure you checked all the apartment buildings? Each ward and each subdivision have their own 90 apartments (so ward 2 is 90 more and ward 2 subdivision is yet another 90, ward 3 yet another 90 and so on).

At this point, if YOSHIP makes a MOG station "purchase able ward instance" for you, alts and your friends or FC, I'd probably just do it in a heart beat. Because I feel like this guy won't know how to fix this broken housing system after 3 years since launch of it. He has been having difficulty to explain why he did this and he can't seem to fix it.

Like for real, just release a private ward service. Like I won't care if it's $50 or $100. If there is also no expiration date. Like if it will help with housing getting more wards and everyone can win a housing... why not.

Oh boy there is alot of interesting comments on this thread, but maybe some input from a player that actively plays on Mateus. These two super buyers are getting alot of hate over something that they did a while ago. It's not their fault. If they want to keep them, that's fine. But what IS their fault, is their bad attitude towards said salty players.

I understand why they don't want to give up the things they rewarded themselves, but im very worried about what they are going to do when shirogane opens. Are they going to buy out another entire ward because 28 houses isn't enough? I just relinquished my current FC estate to someone that didn't have a house for free. I did it hoping that I would be able to provide a house for my FC in Shirogane. Reading all of this feels like im getting my hopes up, and more so the lack of reply from square.

They can get a total of 4 more houses between them (16 possible per account x 2 - 28 already known) provided they don't have more in other wards already. When Shirogane opens up I don't think anyone's going to sit there and watch them buy up all the housing even if they decided to move shop.
