Can never see the ending in game

I'm absolutely livid that I finally got to the end of the main game and can never see the full The Ultimate Weapon quest with my character. Any group powers through it. If you sit and watch story you will not get a chance to fight anything. You'll also run into the same problem I did and it will start skits story as the group downs bosses faster than the skits play. I know I can find it on Youtube most likely but I want to actually play the final epic mission of the $100 game I bought and pay for monthly. They need to remove the ability for people to skip past if it's ANYONE's first time. This pretty much ruined the game for me and I can never get that back.

It sucks but it's been that way for a long time. I went back and watched them all through the inn room after skipping through it all. It's not the same but it's something.

You know what would happen if they did that?
Right, you'd been sitting in the queue for ages, actually... you'd been sitting in the queue forever because no one would bother to do their main scenario roulette anymore.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Yes, that sucks. But please understand that those 7 people who got you into and through the dungeon have seen those 20 minutes of cutscenes before. With your suggestion: probably 10, 20, 50 times and they cant stand it anymore. Those cutscenes were a bad design choice, turning a 15 minute dungeon into a 40 minute one.
You'll be happy to hear that the devs learned from that and never did something like it again.

Personally I'm advicing every new person to go and look for a group whos willing to let them watch cutscenes. Now that it can be done unsyched, 2 more people should easly be enough - and I would totally encourage everyone to find at least two friends in the game to make an overall more pleasent experience. So the only reasonable change I could see them make is a hint before queueing in "The following dungeons will containe a lot of cutscenes. Please make sure you're in a group that will give you the needed time to watch them" or something like that.
For DF though: any change that would force people to sit through the cutscenes is a change that will make people stop doing those dungeons alltogether, leaving the new person all by themself in the queue, stuck on the last dungeon forever.

(also: how did you pay $100 for the game? o.O are you counting your sub-money aswell or did you just went ahead and paid for the expansions aswell?)

You could ask a few lvl70 friends in your FC or people in the novice channel to accompany you through this MQS unsynced, maybe 1 or 2, and let ya sit through the scenes and immerse yourself in the story while still being able to do the fights and feel like you contribute. There was no way of you knowing this, but it's a pretty cool solution from the community. I've seen nice people do this for newbies.

As much as I feel bad for you (and I do, no sarcasm), I was around when we had to farm those.

Only thing worse you'll find then missing the story elements is the feeling of having it poured onto you over and over in a never ending hell.

As much as you deserve to see it, the 7 others your playing with shouldn't have their time massively eaten with each cs period.

    Know though, it gets better

You paid $100 for ARR? If they removed the ability to skip if you'd never get a party to run it.

Dude...That dungeon has over an hours worth of cutscenes. NO ONE would be willing to sit through MGS4 length cutscenes just so a newb can enjoy the story. If they removed the ability to skip cutscenes you would never be able to run it because no one who has beaten it already or even people who don't care about the story, don't want to sit there for an hour just because its babies first time running the dungeon.

You can rewatch those cutscenes in your inn room btw.
But if you want to experience them while running the dungeon, as others have suggested it would be best for you to form a premade group for this.

lol. Just run it in pf. There are plenty of people out there that will accommodate you. Thinking you can force other random players to wait for you is just silly and egotistical and especially so this long after arr launched. The reason they don't force players to wait is because most players have farmed those msq dungeons to death by now and you would get zero queues if players had to wait for like 45 minutes of cutscenes to play out. Luckily, they stopped loading heavy cutscenes into dungeons and instead placed them at the end when everyone else is free to leave.

It's equally egotistical to believe that your umpteenth farm/speed run is more important than a new player's first time through, but the playerbase in general seems to accept that particular bit of self-centrism more readily since it serves their needs. Don't get me wrong, I don't support the OP's suggestion to force people to sit through cutscenes again, but I also don't agree with the "skip or get left behind" mentality.

The problem ISN'T the number of cutscenes involved in any piece of content, and limiting how the story can be told because of player impatience is potentially dangerous to the narrative in general. The problem is that people aren't warned ahead of time when a particular dungeon/raid/whatever is going to be story-heavy--only when solo content is going to be cutscene intensive. Putting that kind of warning out there when players unlock new content would potentially solve (or help solve) these issues--the writers could still tell the story however they want, while players would definitely know ahead of time to expect long cutscenes and could set up a PF of like-minded players (to either watch cutscenes or skip them) for their first run.
