Is there time to fix the game?

With the current situation in Japan and the fact that the servers are currently down I'm gonna say its doubtful.
As a hopeful customer who doesnt want to go back to WoW or FFXI for my MMO fix I reeeeeeally want them to get it fixed.

From a literal standpoint, yes. But from the customer's standpoint.... SE is running dangerously low on time. The things they implemented since launch should have been in Beta. Yes, SE is making progress... but very little. They need to pull off something enormous and drastic to gain /any/ hope of keeping players, let alone gaining new ones. Personally, I think it's within SE's best interest to keep FFXIV free to play at this point. Their launch had such a bad impact on their credibility that I'm unsure if they'll recover, even if they manage to turn the game completely around. At least if they never charge for the game they can gain more players and maybe make money via cash shops.

I feel sad to say this but the news is getting worse by the day for Japan and getting normal eletricity flow. Honestly I don't see XI or XIV coming back for many months or even longer. Hopefully i'm wrong but only time will tell. However I only wish for the Japanese people to get themselves back together again. If it needs to be where certain things become not available anymore then so it shall be.

SE has operations here in the US it wouldnt be that tough to get the servers moved and running here within a 2 to 3 week span.

6 months have passed and what does SE have to show for it? A few new rooms in the Market wards, a weak search function, and a UI that's closer (yet so far off) to where it should have been at launch, 5 new monsters, the Coatee that all the manthras wear, and 6 or 7 side-quests that offer no incentive.

(Remember - you're supposed to wait 6 months before you review an MMO???) At this rate, I'm worried that Ishgard won't be created for another year and a half. It's possible for a new player to explore this entire tiny world in an hour or two.

SE's second and last chance at making a name for this game is the PS3 Launch when all the big reviewers re-review the game. The truth of the matter is, there are some HUGE upcoming titles that could keep the spotlight off of FFXIV's PS3 Release... That is... unless SE does something drastic, and does it fast..

The question is... is there enough time to fix this game? Will Yoshi-P pull something out of his hat and surprise us all, or will FFXIV be quashed by the competition?

I still have faith in SE, they know the games, they know how to make good ones. I am sure they know that the MMO market is not the same when they released FFXI. We heard their voice, it's half way there. Now... Only problem is they can't make this game any better if Japan continues to suffer as it is. Hope they will stand up and make things normal operations.

lol my sediments exactly. I've been strung along hoping maybe this month will be the one. Only to have it come and go like the last with minimal improvements. Com 'on battle changes! Parties and player search save us!!
