Is there enough time to fix this game?

6 months have passed and what does SE have to show for it? A few new rooms in the Market wards, a weak search function, and a UI that's closer (yet so far off) to where it should have been at launch, 5 new monsters, the Coatee that all the manthras wear, and 6 or 7 side-quests that offer no incentive.

(Remember - you're supposed to wait 6 months before you review an MMO???) At this rate, I'm worried that Ishgard won't be created for another year and a half. It's possible for a new player to explore this entire tiny world in an hour or two.

SE's second and last chance at making a name for this game is the PS3 Launch when all the big reviewers re-review the game. The truth of the matter is, there are some HUGE upcoming titles that could keep the spotlight off of FFXIV's PS3 Release... That is... unless SE does something drastic, and does it fast..

The question is... is there enough time to fix this game? Will Yoshi-P pull something out of his hat and surprise us all, or will FFXIV be quashed by the competition?

There's still time. Though it's obvious that major changes or additions need to be made to salvage the game.

It's certainly never going to be a WoW killer. But if Yoshi-P keeps everything on track they should be able to make FFXIV as successful as FFXI was.

    Optimistically, yes. Realistically, probably not.

lol my sediments exactly. I've been strung along hoping maybe this month will be the one. Only to have it come and go like the last with minimal improvements. Com 'on battle changes! Parties and player search save us!!

Also, working on the XIV teams seems a lot like a desk job I had in college. I'd sit in front of my computer and pretend to work 6 hours a day, take a long break and then do a little work at the end of the day.

I think their is, we still have E3 in June which I expect they are going to try and have the new battle system out, as well as the dungeon they talked about in the interviews. However, I don't know if this will happen with everything going on in Japan currently, but that is to be expected. But we have a few things on the horizon for this game:
    1. E3 like I said before, if they have some of the bigger changes done by that time, it would be a big marketing push and show off the game and recapture some interest.
    2. The One year Anniversary - With the game rounding the one year mark, I'm sure they will try to do something fun for the players, both those in the game, and those who feel like returning to see what has happened after a year.
    3. PS3 launch - This is where I think most players will fee that the game is ready, released, out of beta/alpha or whatever people want to refer to the current version as. This date (whenever it happens) will help to relaunch the game to new reviews, and a larger player base.

Anyway, their is time, and I know they are working hard. We'll see how the game shapes up after all of this, and the only one I didn't put in the top three, would be the release of the first expansion (this might coincide with the PS3 release, but for that we'll have to wait and see).

We'll have to wait and see.

Yoshi-P has been talking about reworking big things such as the UI and bttle system, which willl take a lot of time to recode so it's not really surprising we don't have a lot of new stuff rolling in.

He also said in spring the new battle system would be added to the game, however after recent events... :\

its simple, just delete all the extra copypasta parts, and mesh together all the snake trails so its one large landscape, and bam, maybe even less then 2 hours.
