    Please give us back Darkside MP eating mechanic

    The DRK fantasy is destroyed by SB launch.
    Please SE give us the Darkside mode eating up MP like in 3.0.

    The rotation is braindead and the darkarts is no more value to us as it's spammed always and it does not feel like we have to think before we use.

    Also remove siphon strike dark arts ability.

    We are swimming in MP now and the job is brain dead.

    Please look into these changes and give us back our job.

    Also if you bring the eat mechanic buff siphon MP gain.

    I feel the same about that. Dark Knight was always about sacrificing something for a huge (dmg) buff. Something that gives an impact. Something that is meaningfull.

    4.x DRK lost this feeling, as Dark Arts no longer gives that "meaningfull Impact" but is just spammed with every second attack. Whatever that Job is, that's currently ingame, it is not a Dark Knight.

    However, I am well aware that they won't change back. That's why I switched to Paladin.

    Dark Knight is currently missing a proper mechanic. Paladin has its magical and physical dps phases along with more defensives/OGC's to use. In comparison the Dark Knight is currently just flat out dull. We just spam dark arts as it becomes available with a very light priority system that doesn't really matter there since you get mana out of the behind anyway. We have less defensives, we have less OGC's. Dark Knight has essentially become the 1-2-3 class or in aoe situations even less than that

    I prefer 3.x DRK compare to this dumb down version 4.0 DRK. It just doesn't feel very fluid to me.

    Some people look at a full MP bar on DRK and think that the job is too easy. I look at a full MP bar on DRK and cringe at the dps loss.

    It's less punishing when you mess up, but as a result, players generally don't actually realise when they have messed up. There's significantly more to keep track of as a DRK in SB, and you can easily lose a ton of dps without noticing if you're not careful. Delirium windows are the biggest culprits in this regard.

    Its absence has turned non 70 DRK into Marauder with Dark Mind slapped on top with a stick-shift manual Berserk.

    I do miss the Monk-like urgency and desperately aggressive approach Darkside gave DRK in 3.x

    But so far in SB, every time we've had extended downtime mechanics phases (like Frog Knight in Omega) I cringe at the thought of having Darkside drain again.

    I miss the risk/reward of Darkside, but I imagine its gone because devs felt it limited how crazy they could get with fight mechanics.

    And they got fed up with having to patch DRK in PVP. (Though DRK in PVP by end of 3.56 was great, regret that I listened to naysayers for so long. DRK was very fun, RIP real PVP)

    As a veteran of the series as a whole, I noticed immediately that DRK took a lot of elements from the Mystic Knight/Rune Fencer Job. It's an older Job dating back to FFV, long before DRK became truly defined, a Job which fought by enchanting their weapons with various spells, usually from the black magic spell pool. Dark Knight in FFXIV isn't a far cry from that, and that may have been what they were trying to evoke with the change. I still dislike it though!

    Couple of points: First off, just... turn off Darkside? Maybe ask your BRD or MCH for Refresh? It's not that hard to do. Secondly, the devs weren't limited, if they were, we wouldn't have had a close to 40s break in Alexander Prime's encounter when he decides to use Divine Judgement. Finally, DRK is stronger in PvP now than they were in 3.56, and DRK now has a specific niche, they're anti-healers and pull squishies into the pack to slaughter them.

My point was throughout 3.x+, the amount of DRK hotfixes is probably what set them down the path of, "fuck it we're dropping Darkside drain completely," @SB.
