Ï thought only a small part of the Furry community was about the sex, but people made a mountain out of a molehill and now the whole Furry community are to blame.

Woah there. Furries are not all addicts. Try going beyond the internet, and look into fur meets. They're usually not what you'd expect. Also my boyfriend and I have been together for years now, and we're decent people. Please don't make fun of furries, just because you might not want a beast race.

Thing is Au Ra were suppose to be more feral looking. However, guess they were to beastly or "not cute enough" to warrant letting us play them as is. The concept above had me excited but after the full reveal I tucked my fantasia back in my retainer.

I keep thinking Au Ra would have had more success with the first idea. It's a shame the ended with the actual ugly Au Ra.

I'm really bummed they didn't go for this.
When I first saw this during the live stream I got hyped, but then we saw the finished product.
Still looks more fierce (in my opinion anyway) than any other of the current races. And that's why I went for it.
That wasn't enough to keep them out of previous Final Fantasy games. Kimahri has his share of fans, even in Japan.
There are a lot of tensions with enemy beastmen, yet at the same time there are Goblins and Mammol Ja living and working in Limsa, and Gridania has had an alliance with the Slyphs for a long time. Even Ul'dah has people who trade with the friendlier beastmen. So they're really not implacably against ALL beast tribes. In Eorzea, where the Warrior of Light gets their start, tensions with Beastmen are much higher than in Doma (and any tensions that might have existed in Ala Mihgo have been set aside for now, in order to face a greater foe). For the Warrior of Light to gain the trust and cooperation of the three starting nations, they NEEDED to not be a Beastman.
If SE wanted to add a playable beastman race, Eorzea would simply accept that it's one of the friendly (or at least tolerable) beastman races rather than an enemy race. It would take a bit of adapting, but so does the addition of any new race that hadn't been referenced before.
