Do retainers generate random gil?

So since SB came out, never had this before, I noticed my retainers, which have nothing up for sale and are not out on ventures, have been generating gil somehow.

It's not large amounts, maybe 100 here, 500 there, sometimes only 3. But I can clear all the gil out of every one and a few days later they all have gil on them again. Some get nothing and I noticed the idle ones are the ones getting gil.

Is this a bug or a new thing that came with SB? I haven't found it written anywhere. I could see it as maybe being added to help new players, but I am far from new and the amounts are too miniscule to be of any help anyway.

I've noticed this too, and it's been happening for me long before SB, pretty much since I started playing. It's very strange.

Do you often use your retainers to sell off the junks directly? (Not to the market board but the ones you do like selling to NPC)
If I'm not wrong, doing that will have the gils earned go to your retainer instead of in-hand amount. (I can't confirm this since I rarely look at my gil when I sell the junks)

I do frequently sell to my retainer, but this doesn't seem to be the cause of it. I was having gil randomly appear before the ability to sell to a retainer was added. I also tested it, and the gil went to me, not the retainer.

I see, I always thought they came from when you sell stuff using retainers. Might be the server mistaking that bits of gil belonging to us.
