Warrior vs Paladin: Which is better?

Hello,

I been playing tank since the 3.x days. Though i did warrior up till the lvl 65 main quests. I had a backup paladin as well. Now seeing 4.x. Im debating which one to push for as a main. I like paladin since sword and shield is my favorite weapon combo but warrior because of being an offense style tank.

Things will hopefully be in a much more balanced place in a couple weeks, so I would suggest just going with whatever is gonna motivate you to enjoy the game more.

That said, PLD isn't far behind WAR in terms of damage output, but PLD also brings a massive slew of skills to help out the party while WAR essentially brings nothing. Both are pretty fun right now, but I would say WAR is more interesting to me right now because it provides a greater challenge to play optimally.

I could take the time to be the best Warrior player the world has ever seen, and it doesn't change the fact that I'd be more useful to my party if I were playing Paladin.

Right now it appears Paladins are doing slightly more damage than Warriors. And their combo rotations seem a lot nicer, too. Not only that, but they have a lot more useful abilities that can help out your party if you see things are going in the wrong direction.

Personally though I still play Warrior because I like their animations and sounds way better than Paladin's. Plus I like seeing my HP being super high.

Clemency, Clemency, Clemency. How I love Clemency.

Of course, Clemency isn't the only skill that helps the group, but dude I've saved a lot of peoples' hides with that spell, lol. It is just so full of awesome.

But yes, PLDs are in a really nice place right now, they are plenty of fun to play as, they are absolutely invincible in solo content unless you do something stupid like take on an S rank yourself or something.

I hope at some point the other tanks can receive some buffs to put them up with PLDs... I don't really wanna see PLD nerfed because it is just so fun. So instead of nerfing PLD, here's hoping they help the other two out some.

If you are the type of person who prefers aesthetic and whether you enjoy the class, go with whichever one whose playstyle suits you best - it's important to be competent at your chosen class/job. In most non-hardcore groups, people prefer a competent tank playing a non-meta class over an inept tank playing the current favoured class. Also, the flavour of the month can change and what may be the favourite now may not remain that way by the next patch/expansion.

If you are a meta-oriented person who wants to play the "best" tank... then PLD all the way. They have a lot of utility, and clemency is a such a powerful heal. I've seen several runs that PLDs saved due to clutch use of Clemency. DRK and WAR... they just don't have that kind of healing at the moment.
