Leveling it up. Was a DRG main in 2.0 and Heavensward.

It's not a bad class though the removal of some buttons has messed with my ingrained rotations. Feels a bit easier but I'm not 60+ yet.

Though why, when they wanted to remove bloat and underused skills, did they let us keep the pointless short range teleport. Especially now that Spirit is free.

to me, ninja got a bit more fun, but at the same time...harder to master.. no set rotations, its based on the set boss you are fighting atm. priority system which is fine, but yeah it needs quite a bit of QoL help imo to advance.. 20 yard teleport is shit since its not instant. also that feeling of not getting trick attack down cause boss is spinning 360s all over the place realy sucks. wish they made it so you can get the debuff up when needed ;c

I slowly stopped playing NIN in 3.0 due to my lack of dps. Now, while I just hit Lv67 earlier today, I get some praises and Comms as NIN. It's definitely much better to play since I don't have many combos and stuff anymore.

I currently main PLD, but may go back to NIN once I start doing endgame when NIN hit Lv70 (I already began buying Verity gear for her).

    One skill: "True North"

I removed "Feint" for "True North", but that might change at Lv70 when I start doing Lv70 content as NIN instead of PLD.

Honestly, I find the new Ninja to be extremely boring compared to the old Ninja. It's still fun, but a lot less fun than 3.0.

The removal of dancing edge and mutilate and change to our gcd abilities made Ninja in 4.0 have the most basic and easiest to execute base rotation of any mdps job in SB. For those that thought Dancing Edge and Mutilate management were too difficult or annoying, this could be a positive change, but personally I hate it since we gained nothing in return to offset their loss gameplay wise.

The new scroll mechanic is also extremely simple. It might as well be passive gain since it only increases with auto attacks and using Mug (which you basically hit on cd anyway). It requires no interaction or thought from the player at all. When it's about to cap, you hit a single button to spend it. Bavakackra single target, Toad if there is more than one target or Bava is on cd. Bars fills, hit button. Bar fills, hit button. Really simple, nothing to think about and very little to manage.

The only "difficulty" in Ninja now is Mudras, which we gained nothing new of. Any experienced Ninja player has long since committed mudras to muscle memory and any new player will as well given a few weeks or less on the job, at which point they don't feel difficult but simply second nature to utilize.

Ten, Chi, Jin is probably the only thing I would consider remotely complex on Ninja now. But one complex cd ability does not make a job interesting. The job is extremely simple now, but also very effective and strong at the moment. If you think the new spells, specifically Bavakackra and Toad, are cool looking and enjoy Dancing Edge and Mut being gone, than I can see people still enjoying the job.

However for me the SB changes have been pretty negative, but maybe I'm in the minority here.

I felt the same personally, I don't think it's wrong Ninja became more streamlined, but as someone who enjoyed the quick decisive nature of old 3.0 Nin, it feels like a big step down. That and Ten Chi Jin isn't very rewarding, but when your optimal usage of it is Doton ticking 100%, or ending with a suiton, all while being locked in place?

At least the frog is awesome . Though tbh Sam feels better, just because I'm not glued to the rear of the boss

I've been farming Susano and Lakhsmi with 1400 skillspeed and Ninja feels amazing to me now that I have all my muscle memory down.

I attack very fast and I can rapidly dish out aeolian edges and ninjitsu casts also feel fast and fluid so I can perfectly weave in shurikens all day. There is also alot of off global cooldowns to keep me plenty occupied so I don't feel like I have nothing to do. Overall, i'm really enjoying this job.

I'm totally not clear on when you use shuriken and when you use raiton. I like the fast-paces feel of it, but really unclear on a few of the best ninjutsu uses.

Far as I know, basic logic flows as follows:

Q1. Do you have Slashing Debuff up?

No: Use Raiton; Yes: Go to Q2.

Q2. Does using Raiton cut into your Global Cooldown rotation at all? Extremely good ping might not do that, but most will.

No: Use Raiton even with Slashing Debuff up; Yes: Since Slashing Debuff is up, use Shuriken.

I've since migrated to ninja after dragoon has suffered in stormblood. Everything feels very fluid, damage is great. TCJ feels a little wonky, but once you get used to it, its cake, and its great to get an extra ninjitsu out of it since it resets your ninjutsu. True North with Trick Attack is fantastic, and makes me giggle everytime I do use it, no more worrying about spinning enemies and missing it. Bhava is great dmg. I reguarly see 12-15k DH/Crits on it.. Ninja is awesome right now.
