How is 4.0 NIN treating you?

I was thinking of picking up a melee DPS class, and I'm a little conflicted between either NIN or MNK. Being a 60 MNK from Heavensward and doing a few levels I can kind of feel that 70 MNK won't be much different, but I'm curious on how the Stormblood changes have affected NIN, and how the job is at cap now.

Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated!

About how NIN feels at 70,
Well pretty much its is a very busy job...

'Tis true that NIN now has less GCDs than a PLD but hell if they have any less to do.
My only gripe on regard to GCD is that I feel REALLY bad when I have to AE at the front because the back and rear are unavailable, on top of knowing its not its max potency, the sound effect is different by messing the positional (as incomplete).

On the oGCD department... well they have like 14 buttons to press and figure out how to do so is like untangling a puzzle by destroying your fingers... so it feels great.
TCJ looks great on paper but it has some real issues, it may actually be a DPS loss on most boss fights if it doesn't connect to TA.

Also the countdowns for NIN went down from 25 to 3 seconds so yay there.

    It's honestly a fun job.

I do think 4.0 has done something to mudras and messed them up.

The data centre relocation also made mudras a bit worse before 4.0 hit. But at the minute I fund it's missing a lot more of my button presses so I end up tossing fuma instead of katon because it didn't register my first ninjutsu press.

I had picked up NIN when it originally came out and had fun, though I bounced around classes a bit shortly after getting it to 50. Hadn't touched it again til recently, after getting SAM to 65. Currently, NIN is sitting at 63, almost 64, and I gotta say it has been fun so far. I look forward to seeing how it plays out at 70.

I'm enjoying it quite a lot. My only real gripe is I feel that TCJ as a skill is a bit clunky and could probably do with some minor QoL tweaks.

I'm really enjoying NIN at 70.

I enjoyed it so much at 60 originally that I changed my main from WHM to NIN, but the Stormblood changes and additions have made it so much more fun.
There is a potency increase on many actions, so soloing is a piece of cake, and I can feel like a more valuable member of the party with the increased DPS.

There are lots of skills to weave in between other skills. The animations also look really cool for NIN.

My *only* complaint is that the Ten Chi Jin ability at level 70 needs to be reworked a bit. The cooldown on Mudras between casts is a little too long, and the inability to move *at all* really sucks.

At least let NIN use Shukichi to escape AoEs while using Ten Chi Jin.

Anyway, it's a fun job and I recommend it!

Love it so far, but as others have said, TCJ is really clunky. I liked the idea of allowing movement through Shukuchi, but I'd rather just have TCJ work like this: cast 3 mudras in order, then all 3 effects you generate are cast at once. It would be really sweet seeing a boss get hit with shuriken, raiton, suiton at the same time, and would only take as long as casting a regular 3 mudra ninjutsu.

I was fine with it until TCJ, First as has been mentioned, it's awfully clunky when you don't have optimum pings, and that's one huge dps loss over something you just can't control. The longer it takes, the more you need to move due to AOE, and that's a real killer as well. Funny, I am feeling very much like I did when I mained BLM and enochian just made it unenjoyable/frustrating. Back then I changed to Ninja. Looking for a new main. No idea which yet will take a while to try them out.

It's taught me that other melee dps do not understand the concept of using goad on other people or using threat reduction skills like diversion.

    Edit:

Besides that, the nin is pretty busy but not nearly as busy as it was. Bhava is a fun skill and the frog never gets old, not having all those debuffs to manage makes me happy, just having the one DoT to manage has made my life so much easier and I can focus more on AE/AC as well.

The ninki gauge is easy enough to manage and I think the kunai pinwheel for huton is nifty. I still think Huton should be made a passive skill with something to replace it's mudra combination, but that's besides the point.

I started to play Ninja as my Main back in 2.4 / 2.5, I loved it on Heavensward, and now on Stormblood it's even better.

Ninja has always been the best class in the game in terms of raid optimization, but now it's also one of the best in terms of personnal DPS.

But Ninja is also, more than never, a tricky class to master. You can learn the basics pretty easily but if you wan't to be really good you'll have to train more than many others classes
