Thread: The Problem of Hunts and early pulling in 4.0

Yes, this is a non-issue as far as SE is concerned. Hunts were never intended for people to create linkshells and call everyone out to them before killing. It's supposed to be players hunting them down and killing in groups making the effort to actually, you know, HUNT for the mobs.

To all the folks getting upset because S Ranks are being "pulled early": Either get there faster or hope to get lucky receiving credit, or go out and spend the time to hunt or pop them yourselves or choose to not participate in the call outs and keep doing what you were already busy doing that did not involve taking the time to go out and hunt.

With that being said, wouldn't be nice if people waited for the whole server to gather before pulling it? Yes, it would be but it's not happening across the board on every server and it's not considered a violation... so just deal with it or make the effort to hunt them down yourself.

You say that, but with hunts being the only reasonable way of getting the grade 6 materia you want, I don't think this line of thinking applies to 4.0. Moreover, you only lost 3 stats if you used grade 4 vs. grade 5 in HW. Now it's a 28 point loss on grade 5 vs. grade 6. You could say that they've incentivized hunts more than ever.

There is the daily hunts that will help you pick the grade 6 materia you want. Though it will take longer as it take 400 Centurio Seals to get 1. BUT, you can also use the HW hunts to increase your daily intake of seals.
I personally use the daily hunts as a way to help get those materia faster, and just in case I don't make it to the A/S rank on time due to load times/not seeing it called out.

You can't have it both ways unless, as I previously stated, you are fortunate/fast enough to get their and put some work in before it dies. If you didn't make it in time, suck it up and go back to doing whatever you were doing or actually start taking the time to be the first or one of the first to find them. The whining about hunts dying too soon is the result of people's false sense that they deserve the kill merely because they received a shout/ls message saying it was up. Sorry but you don't.

*Fails to see where I complained that I missed a hunt, as I stated that I use those other methods to get centurio seals in case I missed the call/got there late...as in I moved on and didn't bother saying anything along the lines of "damn early pulls, they all need to die in hellfire"*

I didn't fail to see anything... your statement comes off condescending, like you're stating that there's another way but that it is not as efficient/viable. Well of course it isn't, the weekly/daily marks are there to accelerate the acquisition, not replace it entirely. If you didn't mean it that way, you would've been better served saying nothing, as that is really what you added to the conversation if that were the case.

Also, "you" in my statement didn't really mean just you and only you... it is referring to anyone who wants to whine/complain about hunts because people didn't hold every single mark until the entire server got there.

Did you even notice the word HELP in the first sentence? As in you see the shout/LS announcement for the hunt, you try getting there, but oh look, someone pulled it and it's already dead. Guess those hunt bills will help you until you are able to get to the next one. But I'll leave you to believe what you wish to believe, because well, free world/freedom of speech/can't control others thoughts or actions/whatever you decide to feel.

It was also not intended for people to have bots/hacks scan the map for them. That -IS- the problem.

Basically the best mechanism to deal with the hunts is for SE to make it unpredictable. Never telegraph that they've appeared, they just appear anywhere on the map that can be reached on foot, which includes within 300 yalms of NPC's that might start attacking them.
