The forums don't represent all players, and are just a fraction of the entire player base. Also, the people who are unhappy are the ones posting the most, not people who are content. You'll never see a thread that's basically "Hay guys, just wanted to say I am adequetly pleased with the direction of the game. That's all!"

That's not to say that criticism on the forums should be entirely ignored or anything, particularly if there are a lot of people making the same complaint.
