If the game was getting better then we probably would not be losing so many people every day...
you say it is a battle of opinions...but my opinion has a dwindling player base backing it up...and the other opinion has...uhh...what does it have exactly?

I would like to see these statistics claiming how player base is dwindling. From what I understand, populations have been up from normal on many servers. Even on my own server, I've noticed an increase in player activity. However, as this is just an eyeball account, I will not present it as an absolute statistic.

It wouldn't surprise me if you're the same kind of person that claims so adamantly that "50%" of the player base is going to leave when subscription fees hit.

On the melmond server the NA population has pretty much left,...where did they go? They went to the more populated servers like yours. That is why you are seeing an increase in player base and the rest of us are seeing a decrease. I've already had a few of my friend reroll onto your server specifically for this reason. Wake up and smell the bacon. I do not base my opinion on any fake numbers. I have no numbers to give you. only my observation as someone that plays on a daily basis. The NA population on my server is almost gone. And I'm positive it will be even worse when p2p comes out, anyone that does not understand that does not need to be posting on these forums because you clearly lack the intelligence to make a decision based on current events and where they are leading to.

You do understand that if a player leaves a server to go to another, there is no net decrease in population, right?

no decrease in YOUR population there is a decrease in ours. Each server has its own population, normally a Game such as this should be able to sustain a decent population on each server, but as it stands it cannot, because the game is not appealing to the majority of MMO players right now, nor will it be until 2.0 (we all hope).

Once again, you're looking at it the wrong way. If they're changing servers, then they're not leaving after being unhappy with the changes. My server is nice and plump with people.

Now, I'm going to use an example with FAKE NUMBERS. Keep up with me here.

Say 1000 people play FFXIV. 200 people across 5 servers.

Now say 100 of them leave your server and join my server. Now your server has 100 people and my server has 300 people.

Your SERVER population has decreased, but the OVERALL population of the game has remained constant.

Two of your links are valid because they are around this most recent patch. The rest are moot because they are over or around half a year old, where multitude of changes have taken place.

Also, the same problem with those thread exist that exists between you and I. Difference of opinion. I could create threads all day long about how Lancer needs an upgrade, Archer should shoot spaghetti out of it's fingertips and Rabanastre is the only server that matters.

Does that make me right or that the universe agrees with me? Hell no.
