Quick Comment on ToR:
I do not see ToR doing much at all for the active population, honestly I am not expecting that game to hold over 30% of its initial subbase aftera years time. The game is truly just bad outside of the Solo player portion of it. Has no lasting appeal once you are finished with the storylines which are good. So the mass decline in the games population is almost garenteed, there is just too many massively flawed designs and decisions put in ToR for it to really succeed long term unless they have a ton of non-scalable group content not added yet.
Comment about this post in general:
The op is right
The post from people on thread backs up the OP point. We are not playing a finished game, thing atm do not make sense. YOU CANNOT JUDGE THE GAME ATM, well you can and everyone is. The game atm makes no sense, it is unballanced, broke, lacks content. But once everything is added will it still be all negative? SE did make one of the most success mmos of all times before are they that stupid? Will everything make sense and work after the Systems are installed 100%?
We need to look at the now in respect to the future planned additions, if you do they make alot more sense. That is where the white knighting is coming into play. People are bashing the "current" game without any clue of why X was done or how it will be after the rest of the system is added. Example is the battle system, we are still missing group based combo (the replacement of regiments) so the battle reforms are not done. The buffs and enfeebles are removed and people are pissed, but all the classes are not added. Archanist was said it would use trap spells (bind, gravity?). So the classes that use those spells are not added. SO The class system is not done. The job system is not done. The World is not done being made. The companys are not done. Most the quest are not added. The story is not done. So it is impossible to say if anything at Patch 1.20 is fail.. because we simply do not know how it will work once done.
This game is in a state of Alpha/Beta atm, XIV that was launched in Sept 2010 died in Nov 2010, This game now has the same name but it is not the same game. Whole new concept. We are part of the Development process now.
Those who choose to play a finished game should leave for now they will enjoy their time more, but those who want to be part of the transformation of the game can stay. That is what we are paying for, the opportunity to witness the birth of a new mmo from development to launch more or less. Give feedback on what is added, voice our concerns.
Licont is an example of the OPs whole point and why it is valid. People need to not look at the now and they need to not look at this as a finished product.
