Just a thought, but do you think if they made him fly higher in the sky, so he wasn't so close to the ground/player level it would help?

Lol no i dont have any problems at all so far.
I think it is only fair to point out that 'most' of the complaints are from non summoners and I think the OP themselves mentioned being a melee. Making a general sweeping statement as if 'all' summoners wanted larger Egi (they all didn't) and now 'all' summoners are complaining about the size (they all aren't) is a bit disingenuous.I can't believe I'm seeing this thread. For you Summoners have been complaining about getting actual summons and bigger Egi and all this other stuff. Now you guys are asking to delete Bahamut? I'm pretty sure someone on the death team right now is having an aneurysm. I'm so appalled by this post that after years of not posting on here I just had to say something about this.
Currently Playing: Blue Revolver
And yet, next page someone else will go "LOL ALL SMN WANTED THIS NOW THEY DON'T THIS IS WHY YOSHI P HATES AMERICA LULULUL" lolI think it is only fair to point out that 'most' of the complaints are from non summoners and I think the OP themselves mentioned being a melee. Actually, this whole problem can be fixed rather easily. In this other game I play off and on, Warframe, there is a character named Mirage who can create duplicates of herself in a pattern. When she, or anyone else for that matter, mouses over or aims through one of them, the duplicates will turn transparent around their reticle so they can continue to fight. Same concept here. If Bahamut is between your character and the camera, part of him will be rendered away to let you see.
It is actually somewhat important to be able to see Bahamut. He has a healthbar and can die to mechanics, so knowing where he is so you don't nuke him with damage (some things can actually hurt pets) has value. Like I said before, being able to place him would be more helpful than just hiding him from others. That doesn't make sense- awareness is knowing your surroundings... which is being blocked. I've had issues with SMN as well in situations where I haven't before.
I just don't understand why people feel that the equivalent of a hand in your face doesn't obscure your vision of mechanics. Is it so much to ask for that others don't want to see your dragon?
He actually does not have a health bar. Even if he did, being able to place him would make things harder on the summoner. Bahamut delays his attacks in order to move with the player and spending any amount of his 20 second uptime moving is a detriment. It is actually somewhat important to be able to see Bahamut. In my eyes the only thing that would stop complaints from other classes is to allow him to be hidden via a setting or to implement a transparency if he is between the player and the camera. The best thing to do would be to have him occupy the same space as the egi when he is summoned so that the movement delays are negated, but unless he can also be hidden he will probably still get in someone's way.
Are you body shaming my bahamut? So what if he's big? On a serious note they were considering making him transparent with adjustable transparency, as I believe that'd be the best of both worlds here.
Summoner-chan! Where you going? I'ma come with you cause I'm your best friend!
Uh oh! My tummy doesn't feel so good....
Where'd all the mean people go?
People wanted bigger summons (me too) but first I would have liked the size of the egis from the summoner job quests (and better looking egis on top of that) which would have been way bigger but not big enough to cause problems. Also I am quite sure that we wanted moveable egis and not something that is on your side the whole time. They could have even made him fly over the enemy or fly down for the attacks thus nobodies view would be blocked.
We should be allowed to complain if SE takes our wish and creates something that is not really thought out. Just because they do something does not mean that its done right and we should be able to complain about it without the "omg people wanted it, now deal with it. SE can never do right" sentences.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
