This is SO spot on. We have a new excuse for poor performances. If is not the Lag is Bahamut.Sounds like you are blaming Summoners for your lack of awareness. I haven't had an issue with Bahamut, either my own or another player's.
The only problem I would say he has is being unable to use any pet commands on him. His size is fine, he just need to be able to be placed somewhere.

So conceited. Lol. When people can't see mechanics through class spell effects and particles we choose to turn them off. Are you so gungho about forcing people to see your dragon that you're not willing to accept that having a giant blanket cover randomly pop up in your face during mechanics MAY have negative effects? We're asking for the option to shrink/transparent/remove him, what we're not asking for is your snooty upturned nose.
Instead of admitting there's a problem and asking for a solution- you're actively promoting SE to leave it be because YOU don't have an issue with it.

Lol no i dont have any problems at all so far.

Actually, this whole problem can be fixed rather easily. In this other game I play off and on, Warframe, there is a character named Mirage who can create duplicates of herself in a pattern. When she, or anyone else for that matter, mouses over or aims through one of them, the duplicates will turn transparent around their reticle so they can continue to fight. Same concept here. If Bahamut is between your character and the camera, part of him will be rendered away to let you see.
He actually does not have a health bar. Even if he did, being able to place him would make things harder on the summoner. Bahamut delays his attacks in order to move with the player and spending any amount of his 20 second uptime moving is a detriment. It is actually somewhat important to be able to see Bahamut. He has a healthbar and can die to mechanics, so knowing where he is so you don't nuke him with damage (some things can actually hurt pets) has value. Like I said before, being able to place him would be more helpful than just hiding him from others.
In my eyes the only thing that would stop complaints from other classes is to allow him to be hidden via a setting or to implement a transparency if he is between the player and the camera. The best thing to do would be to have him occupy the same space as the egi when he is summoned so that the movement delays are negated, but unless he can also be hidden he will probably still get in someone's way.
Are you body shaming my bahamut? So what if he's big? On a serious note they were considering making him transparent with adjustable transparency, as I believe that'd be the best of both worlds here.
Summoner-chan! Where you going? I'ma come with you cause I'm your best friend!
Uh oh! My tummy doesn't feel so good....
Where'd all the mean people go?
People wanted bigger summons (me too) but first I would have liked the size of the egis from the summoner job quests (and better looking egis on top of that) which would have been way bigger but not big enough to cause problems. Also I am quite sure that we wanted moveable egis and not something that is on your side the whole time. They could have even made him fly over the enemy or fly down for the attacks thus nobodies view would be blocked.
We should be allowed to complain if SE takes our wish and creates something that is not really thought out. Just because they do something does not mean that its done right and we should be able to complain about it without the "omg people wanted it, now deal with it. SE can never do right" sentences.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I am not a SMN, however I think a large part of the previous egi complaints were not so much about size - but more about how poor the models looked. Just random shapes and polygons floating around with the element colour..
I don't think shrinking the current Bahamut model to something closer (maybe still a bit bigger) would cause too many complaints about it.. It's more that the egis just look pretty rubbish compared to the SCH fairy models or even Carby.
I love it visually, but an option to hide the summons would be greatly appreciated
