Not quite enough XP available

I am trying to get through all the quests required to get into the expansions. I am finding out however that there is not quite enough XP available doing just the MSQs, Hunter Log, and occasional required Leve. Up until about level 20 I was doing a lot of side quests but got about 3 levels over leveled, which I do not like to do because it makes content to easy. Since then I have only been doing MSQs, Hunter log, and occasionally a Leve. I have not only caught up to the story level wise. But now I am getting red quests that I am not high enough level for requiring me to grind a little to obtain the next level. I am enjoying the main story quite a bit. Sidequests however tend to be boring.

I guess it i required to do at least a few sidequests.

There are other ways to get exp, game content: FATEs for sure and also duties such as dungeons both do give incredible amount of experience, dungeons also give you the chance to get equipments

My suggestion? Do all of the sidequests. Or, actually, since you're level 28 now? ..Run dungeons. Although sidequests will help a lot.

Thanks for the replies. Good suggestions. I guess when I see fates. I should occasionally join in. And also do dungeons more than just the 1 time required for the story. I guess since I purchased both expansions I was just trying to open up that content as quickly as possible.

Yeah. I would suggest spamming the dungeon that is closest to your level til you get enough exp to not be level locked anymore. Although if I were you, I would get another level or two higher. I know you don't like being over-leveled, but since you now know level locking is a thing, my policy is always that it's better to be over leveled than the same level because yeah.

Doing the Leveling Roulette once a day will generally get you at least a level, sometimes two. When that first-run-of-the-day bonus is active, it's the best XP available. After that, there's additional dungeon runs, sidequests, FATEs, and Palace of the Dead to get more XP when you need it.

As for sidequests, they give good XP when you're on-level for them, but it doesn't scale, so if you're much over the quest's level, its XP will be negligible. Most of the other XP sources (anything with level sync) will scale up the XP to be relevant for you.

Do your daily roulettes, google "PoTD" can do that for exp, loot, and eventual weapon upgrades at level 60. PvP is another way to get fast exp. Q for PvP Shattered.

Yeah, easiest solution is just to mix in a little extra content when you hit one of these pinches. Some levels have more storyline quests to hand out then others. Doing a leveling roulette every now and again should certainly smooth things out(its typically worth approximately a level per day when the bonus is active).
