[request] Rhythm game in Golden Saucer

So, I am pretty sure most people know what Dance Dance Revolution is or other similar rhythm games. I also know many people enjoy the music in FFXIV. So, why not have a fun way to listen to the music and earn MGP?

I was thinking an in game game, similar to DDR or Stepmania. The arrows would scroll up the screen and people would hit the arrow keys. People could play like any song they have obtained in the Orchestrion Roll. There could also be competitive where you play against a player for the higher score. This could be something that could be crafted or bought and put in a FC house and the FC can play together, or just played in the Golden Saucer. I have played MMOs before where this has been an in-game thing, at least for like a month as a special event.

While I would absolutely love something like this (maybe even make it based on the Theatrhythm series) I think anyone who's spent more than 10 seconds in a Chocobo race knows why it probably wouldn't work...

Server latency will effect many high-ping players like me.
But still I want to try it out.

If it's not vs, it would probably be client side like the other precision press minigames.

It won't work, either it will be macro'd, hacked or cheated. Anything that needs sub-200ms precision can not be done, and no, you never "client side" anything that is meant to scored.

DDR, PUI, DWI, etc, work on sub-frame accuracy, so beats have to be timed to 1/120th precision and you have to hit them within a 1/30th of a second to score "perfect"

There is no way to make this work in a multi-player environment and it will just be cheated.

It would be better to take the approach of "Bardam's Mettle" and have something closer to musical chairs. That at least works within the 200ms precision.

The Mining and Botany mini-games are actually the FFXIV V1.0 Mining and Botany system. That is quite literately how it worked in V1.0. If you hit things right you got stuff, hitting it perfect got the HQ materials.


Like I love having a variety of things to do in the game, but anything that requires high-precision like a rhythm game simply is impossible to do fairly. If you've played Theatrhythm, you'd notice that it's mechanics of it is closer to that of Guitar Hero or BeatMania.

Yes, This would be hard to do, but maybe it could be something live a separate app for iphone or something. Or an online(out of game) mini game like FlashFlash Revolution. You could connect your SE account to the game and earn awards that way. It could also maybe include music from the other FF or SE games.
