FFXIV controller camera control going nuts.(constantly hugging the ground)

I'm having a issue with two FFXIV controllers that I purchased a few months ago. The camera wants to go down(or up) constantly on its own. This happens on both controllers, and on two different computers. Does anyone else have this annoying issue? Sometimes if you jiggle the camera control sideways it will halt this annoying, and constant down camera motion. Also If you check the controller settings within windows, and look at the indication that shows the amount of pressure your applying to the control sticks, the camera control is constantly going one direction, the pressure varies constantly. If it was just one controller Id wager it was just a bad one and needs replaced, but two? Has this been mentioned before, is it a common issue with this controller?

My two computers are self built, One is windows 7 Pro x64, and one is windows XPPro x86. This issue is constant, its always occurring, the only way i know to curb the camera movement is to push the camera sideways, and the motion will stop occasionally. The recent update, has helped with this problem, during battle that is.. any other time the camera is just crazy and always trying to crawl all over the floor. Or if you reverse axis its always trying to look down on you. Also when i can get the camera motion to stop, via pushing it side to side, the second i use it to look up and down it will just go back to doing that.

I've tried using the windows controller settings to try adjusting the level of sensitivity, but it doesn't help, it just reduces or speeds up the automatic motion that's occurring. Just curious if this is a know issue, if there is any known issue to stop this type of problem, or if there is some kind of a work around for that sensitivity issue. When in the windows controller settings, the sensitivity never goes over the halfway mark, if there was someway to tell it to just interpret all movement up to that as just simply no movement at all, i could still have some camera functionality without it moving, but I don't know of anyway to do that.

Sounds to me like one of three things:

    A) Faulty hardware. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "FFXIV controller," was there some specifically branded USB gamepad for FFXIV or is it just some generic USB gamepad? I'd double check that the drivers for the device are properly installed.

    B) A software conflict. Some other software could be continually sending the same keypress signal as whatever the analog sticks send. Do you have any sort of "homebrew" controller software installed to either custom map keybinds or something like Motioninjoy to use a standard PS3 controller as a PC controller? That stuff typically is the culprit with these kinds of issues, I know when I tried motioninjoy myself it gave me a world of issues and side effects even after uninstalling.

    C) Is there some sort of calibration settings in the gamepad driver/software? If its reading the stick being centered as the stick being physically held down in a certain direction, when the stick is where it physically rests it'll constantly be sending an "up" signal even though you're not touching the controller. You might need to reset the calibration to let it know where the stick sits naturally.

I forgot to mention I've had this issue sense i got both controllers. The new patch made it less of a problem, cause during battle it locks the camera.

I've had this issue consistently every time, sense day one. I've certainly had a lot of instances where i had nothing else running in the background. But I have checked many times. If it was some other app imputing the signal, you'd expect it to happen without me touching the controller or when im not playing with it. If i play with the keyboard and move the camera around i don't have any issues.

there is one built into windows, its the one i was referring to when i was trying to describe what it looks like on the calibration screen. It will show you if your pressing a control in a certain direction, and indicate how much pressure in that direction. The camera control, is going down, and the pressure is random, its not a solid press down, like you would expect in like a console controller, where you accidentally pressed it down when you turned it on or anything.

You purchased two controllers of the same model. type, and brand at the same time, both experiencing the same issue? Well most likely explanation is they we're both manufacture as part of a batch that was fitted with one minor peace of faulty equipment and still managed to pass QC.

You need to find a separate controller of a different brand and type than the ones you have. Or contact whomever manufactured those controllers and arranged to have them replaced or refunded.

What brand are these anyhow? The ones by Snakebye? If so, your best bets for an alternative are the wired 360 controller pad or the PS3 controller. Yes the PS3 controller is $60-$80 or something. And you get what you pay for. They last a hell of a long time.

I have a logitech controller and ig et this all the time too. I just rotate both sticks once or twice while the game is loading and it sorts itself out. If I don't then i just spend 2-3 secs running like an idiot in game til i rotate and it settles.

This is due to joysticks getting worn out over time. To fix this problem, if you have Gamepad software (like the Logitech) that allows you to "widen" the dead zone, use it. The "dead zone" is the area on the analog sticks of your controller that it can move without causing the computer to read it as an input. If you make the dead zone really big, that means you'll have to move the analog sticks farther away from the center in order to make the computer sense motion change.

If you use your gamepad a lot, then the analog sticks on your gamepad are most likely very slightly off centered, which is enough for a lot of sensitive software and games that do not have a dead zone configuration (i.e. FFXIV) to think you're "moving" towards one direction.

If you look in the windows Game controller configuration menu (Control Panel --> Devices and Printers --> right click your controller --> Game controller settings --> Properties) if you let the controller rest on your desk, does it look like the example cursors in the control panel are leaning ever so slightly up/down/left or right?
