Need a way to change instances other than walking across the border

This has been a persistent and annoying issue. I always play the MSQ with my wife, so needless to say, we need to be in the same instance.

-We cannot use our rings of eternity to teleport to each other
-The very first zone required you to talk to an NPC to zone in. This required us to repeatedly zone in and out until we got lucky enough get into the same instance together.

Then today, we go to resume questing in the Ruby Sea. I log into instance 1, she logs into instance 3. We're not far enough in the MSQ yet to be able to walk to either the Azime Steppes or Yanxia, so I had to go all the back to Kugane just to get into the right instance.

Please tell me there's a solution coming for this sometime soon? My wife and I shouldn't need to spend the first 20 minutes of our gametime zoning in and out until we can actually work together.

I think the reason they didn't make a simple "choose your instance layer" option may be to avoid having everyone trying to crowd into the same one for an S rank hunt, thereby negating the whole purpose of the different instances in keeping people spread out.

But I do think there needs to be a special case for parties. If a party zones in together, they should all be put into the same instance, and if you enter a zone where a party member already is, you get put in the same instance. Such a rule would likely have to have an exception of something like "unless it's > 10% more crowded" to avoid being exploited for hunts, but the vast majority of the time it could keep players like you and your wife together.

They should allow the use of an aetheryte to switch instances, or if one party member is in the instance you want to be in, be able to select them and move to their instance.

I think the instances are just temporary anyways. So I doubt they'll make much effort to allow Ayers to switch easier when they'll probably be closed on the next couple of weeks

Hunters do it anyway, with instances it just takes longer to gather. Every hunt LS message for new zones comes with an instance number.

Yeah, as a hunter I've been kind of holding off on rank hunt notifications until after they remove the layering. Shouldn't be too long from now. It can get super annoying.
