What's the best way to grind red scrps?

    Hi!

As I'm beginning to reach 70 on my crafters and starting the process of melding/overmelding my gear, would anyone be able to provide what they find to be the most cost effective way to grind out red scrips for IV/V materia? And whether you're going with HW or SB turn-ins? Some seem prohibitively more expensive and material-intensive than others.

Just looking for some insight and advice.

    Thanks!

The collectables I used to do for blue scrips were Dragontooth Earrings and Cockatrice Meatballs. I only have BSM at 70 so IDK if any of the SB turn-ins are good for scrips.

I haven't been grinding red scrips for crafting yet, as I want to finish getting my gathering folklore books first, but a cursory glance at the turnins I had available leads me to believe Loquat Juice is a very cheap turnin to make.

I honestly change my approach daily after reviewing the turn ins available after reset. Whichever requires 3 or less materials and gives between 50-80 red scrips usually are the ones I go for. However, I find a lot of success with Noble Gold/Codex, Buckwheat Tea, Koppranickel Ornamental Hammer and Beech Composite Bow. The name of the last one may be slightly off but it should give you an idea.

My retainers go into overtime when I farm red scrips, and you are making a very smart move. I haven't bought a single materia off the MB (the costs are ridiculous, like even 9K for a CP+1!) and I try to limit my spending for mats off the MB. remember too that it can reimburse you sort of, if you get full collectability, all the ones I mentioned above give about 1,900-2,800 Gil per turn in.

I took a cursory look at Garland Tools list of what gives Red Scrips for each DoH. I'll list a few cheap ones for both HW and SB.

MAKE SURE TO CHECK MARKET BOARD PRICES. Some materials may be much cheaper to purchase than it would be to take the time to gather them. This can mean that items I do not have listed could be better depending on your server's MB. With the exception of one of ARM's HW recipe, I'm not including any recipes which use Dissolvents or Reisui, since they're usually expensive on the MB and hard to easily craft.

    CRP:
    • HW: Dark Chestnut Spinning Wheel for 31. Good value.
    • SB: Slate Grinding Wheel for 89. Needs 2 Pine Lumber and 1 Oroshigane Ingot, otherwise it's very good.

    BSM:
    • HW: 2 good choices here; Adamantite Mortar for 34 if Adamantite nuggets are cheap on MB. If not then make Titanium Mortar for 24.
    • SB: High Steel Doming Hammer for 68. Good value.

    ARM:
    • HW: Titanium Tassets of Fending for 36. Adamantite Alembic for 59 is also good if Adamantite Nuggets/Ore are cheap.
    • SB: High Steel Hoplon for 60. Good value.

    GSM:
    • HW: Dragon Fang Earrings for 14. Only do if Starred. Extremely cheap to make if Dragon Fangs are cheap.
    • SB: Muudhorn Ring of Slaying for 52. Very good if Muud Suud Horn is cheap.

    LTW:
    • HW: Dragonskin Belt of Crafting for 22. Only do if Starred. Good choice if Dragon Skin is cheap.
    • SB: Two (technically three) good choices here. Either Gaganaskin Shoes for 68 or Gyuki Leather Twinbelt of Aiming/Scouting for 70. Either the Shoes if Gagana Skin is cheaper or the Belts if Gyuki Hide is cheaper.

    WVR:
    • HW: Ramie Trousers of Gathering for 34. Good if Dhalmel hide is cheap.
    • SB: It's a five-way tie! The following recipes give 105 and all use the exact same materials; Ruby Cotton Coatee, Ruby Cotton Longkilt, Ruby Cotton Bottoms, Ruby Cotton Gambison, and Ruby Cotton Smalls. Each craft uses 40 Ruby Cotton Bolls so stock up on those if you plan to make any of these.

    ALC:
    • HW: Noble's Codex for 68 ONLY if intermediate materials are cheap or if you don't mind more gathering than the other choices. HW ALC has no easy choices.
    • SB: Two choices here. Either Commanding Craftsman's Tea for 49 or Potent Spiritbond Potion for 46. Craft the Tea if Dzo Horn is cheaper or Spiritbond if Muud Suud Horn is cheaper.

    CUL:
    • HW: Marron Glace for 11. Only do if Starred. Very cheap besides the Sherry for GC seals. I don't recommend making this due to the low reward.
    • SB: Buckwheat Tea for 39. Good value.
