    Targeting non-party character's chocobo on PS4?

I usually play on PC. But occasionally my fiance asks that I use the controller for her PS4 in the next room while she addresses something.

I've gotten better at using controller and have managed to edit the targeting filters for D-pad left and right to include non-party characters. This is so I could heal them.

But when it comes to FATEs when some characters would have the chocobo tank the FATE boss, I cannot target them to heal. Anyone have some advice? Thank you.

If your goal is really to heal whomever the FATE boss is attacking, you can target <tt> (that's the target-of-target tag) or use the "Target the Target of your Current Target (Assist Target)" keybind (in /keybind >> Targeting).

I know your question is specifically relevant to controller players, but as you mention other players' buddy chocobos and tanking FATE bosses, it may be helpful for kb/m healers to know that the target of target health bar is a valid mouseover entity for <mo> heals.

However, if your goal is specifically to target other people's companions, for any reason, there's not much you can do besides devoting your focus to the companion in question so you can target <f> or use focus target keybinds.

I was attempting to mouse over PS4 controller touchpad them sometimes, but they just move too much. The target of target health bar mouse over alleviates that.

Just from your suggestion I looked up more stuff and I think I can keybind the R thumbstick button to "Assist Target" to get it done.

    Thank you so much.
    That really helps.

I'm pretty sure that you can target others' chocobos with the D-pad left/right. I just don't remember for sure which checkbox in the targeting filters setup includes them, and am not in the game right now to check. (maybe it was NPC/Objects?) I'll check this evening.

Ok, it's rather weird. None of the checkboxes in the target filter settings work individually. I alternated checking one and then another (as well as various combinations) and it would not include chocobos in the targeting with any of them. Yet if ALL of them are checked, then the targeting will include chocobos. That seems to be the only way for the D-pad left/right to include them.

(It's really counter-intuitive to the way checkboxes are supposed to work. )
