Gardening and Chocobo breeding w/o housing

As cool as it would be to be able to purchase a plot of land, the biggest draw for me are the gardening and chocobo breeding. Would it be possible to implement these mechanics without a player house? I feel like not having a house is a bit of a wall for Crafter classes since some items can only be crafted with items that are grown in a garden.

I understand that you can purchase those items from the market board, but that feels a bit like funneling gil to those who had enough gil or were lucky enough to get a house. I don't want to take anything away from those who do have houses or dumb down housing, I just wish some of those mechanics of the game weren't tied directly to owning player houses.

There is no chocobo breeding from houses, just training/dying their feathers.

If you aren't having any luck/don't have the money for housing, you might try to get an apartment, you can grow things in the indoor flower pots (no cross breeding though) and use the apt stables for all the chocobo perks. Or you might look into if your FC has a house, if they will let you garden with it's plot and use the stable.

Ooh, they should add indoor planters that can hold enough to crossbreed, or maybe an apartment plot that just shows what you're growing.

Not sure if this is exactly the answers you are looking for but with apartments you have access to a Chocobo Stable and you can grow plants in the apartment but not do anything like cross breeding (Not 100% sure on this one).

Since a vast majority of the more useful/valuable plants from gardening require crossbreeding, it's still kinda lame.

Each ward and subdivision has it's own separate apartment building so don't get discouraged if the first one you run up to is full.

IF they're there, and not priced exorbitantly high.

I mean, seriously, what a dumb reason to not add something like planters, or make housing more available. "You can get the item off the MB!!!!" Okay...everyone knew that................
