Getting onto Congested Servers?

I've been wanting to get onto Balmung to play with friends for a while now, and I was curious if we'd get a good estimate on when it would be possible to make a character on it?

Or even, if it is currently possible to buy a transfer over to the server? And if not, the original question still stands for it.

The block on getting onto congested servers includes paid transfers, so no, as long as it remains designated as "congested" you can't transfer there.

As to how long it's likely to remain that way, "until their active player populations have stabilized" is the only answer SE has given. There's no telling how long that might take. I wouldn't expect it to change any time soon, at any rate.

Any chance you could talk your friends into transferring off to join you instead? Or at least making an alt on your world and splitting their time between there and Balmung?

Problem is, I'm one of those RPing nerds. And at the moment, both the "unofficial" servers for it are congested, with Balmung being the big one recommended to folks, and Gilgamesh being the other. Otherwise, I'd agree completely in that it'd be more prudent to get them to make alts to join me on Goblin. That does answer my question though, so, I suppose I can ask if anybody thinks if the level/story boosts are worth the cost. Less out of intent to buy, more curious of general opinion.

They actually get rewards if they transfer to preferred world's and if you make a new character in the preferred server you get a lot of leveling bonuses. SE kinda begged a lot of players to do this transfer since it was one of the reasons for being a unable to log on(stormblood first came out). Since they're in Balmung the transfer would be free if they go to a preferred server.
