The current course for FFXIV.

I just wanted to take the time to provide some feedback on my overall experience with FFXIV. I wasn't really sure where to put this, but I hope this is an appropriate enough spot.

I've played FFXI since NA release and I have played FFXIV since alpha. FFXIV certainly is not without faults, but more and more are overcome with each successive patch. The outline set for Version 2.0 is certainly a clear commitment to the players and no small endeavor to undertake. I wanted to express that I am very satisfied with the work of both the development teams and the community staff.

I don't post often on the boards, but I read them frequently. It's clear that the community has extremely high standards for your work and remains consistently vigiliant for details to voice opinion on the many decisions that have to be made. Inviting the community to voice their opinion on unfinalized ideas appears as if it can be frustrating at times. I give you all the more credit for continuing your commitment to hearing us, even if it can at times be harsh in its judgement. It is meaningful that your community is part of your process.

As a fan and a customer I wanted to thank you for remaining committed to making this game the best you can. I hope that even though the most vocal members of the community can be the most critical, this message can remind you that while it may not be said often enough, we support you. Thank you very much for all your hard work, and happy holidays!

couldnt have said it better myself. we may have been of to a rocky start and even when you guys had to power down you still didnt give up and you always keeped us up to date with what was going on, i never played a game with a company that likes to involes everyone who is playing and not playing the game. take there feedback and works on it, as well you talk to everyone who plays the game you guys are doing a great job and i hope you have a great hoilday.

I don't like the direction this game is heading to.
It's about to become FFXI-2, and that's not the kind of game I hoped FFXIV would be and neither a game I want to play.
Still though, I know many FFXIV players are FFXI veterans and like it this way, and Yoshi-P and his team have made a great effort to fix this game and turn it into something the community will like.
That's great and I think they are doing a good job, it's just no longer a game I want to play.

I'm with you 2. This is neither the game i bought nor i wanted. IMO if they want this one to be FFXIV then the original one should be offered as a different game so, when 2.0 migration come we would have the option to choose where we would want to migrate to.

I've been asking the restoration of the original FFXIV as a spin-off for a while already...the more people support the idea the better the chance of this happening (won't happen before march tough since Tanaka is busy reworking FFXI contents to fit the lv99).

I support the return of the original FFXIV as a spin-off game. For those who would think the original FFXIV sucked, just read what we was planned to january of this year (2011):

We would have DB, MW expansion, drag and drop feature, hamlet defense, repeatable quests...all this not only now, but for nearly an year already. IMO the 2 games are already 85% different...once the map changes happen they will be 2 completely different games so why not having both going?

IMO the best thing SE can do right now is actually resuming the original FFXIV to keep those who liked it but don't like FFXI or the way the current FFXIV is going.
