This argument is so tiresome. Can you please quote from above where a tank is asking to do dps role numbers.
You are right, they didn't ask to do as much damage as a DPS and that was not my point. If tanks cared about enmity then they would ask for higher enmity multipliers - not to do more damage to keep enmity. SE gave tanks more enmity - they should be happy but they are here asking for changes to tank damage while tanking...hmmmmm. You should not be concerned about your damage numbers while tanking only holding threat...yet, here we are talking about tweaking stats to give tanks more damage they don't need to fulfill their primary role.

Please understand that as off tanks, we are practically a glorified DPS for a majority of the fight, which leads us to be concerned about our DPS. Maintank is a bit different cause they can increase healer dps via mitigating more helping overall party output. It's not always about threat. I highly doubt there is a tank out there who wants to do equivalent of the DPS roles output, but thats beside the point. When were spending most of the fight not having to worry about mitigation, we worry about our dps. That's all there is to it.

Because once you have enmity on the boss, what else is there to do but focus on damage? If the outgoing damage isn't going to kill you and aggro isn't an issue, damage is the next step to optimizing. They have fulfilled their primary role. What you're asking is they just be satisfied basically doing nothing but press a cooldown every time a buster goes out. That's a great way to ensure queue times become even worse as most people find just maintaining aggro boring. You are right, they didn't ask to do as much damage as a DPS and that was not my point. If tanks cared about enmity then they would ask for higher enmity multipliers - not to do more damage to keep enmity. In his quote? Nowhere. In other threads that they're getting feedback? It has a very strong presence. I'm not saying hit is good or bad, but this "feedback" gets translated into what the quote said. Mind you I'm still very new to tanking and have 0 experience to 3.0 in depth tanking. So it's really a grain of salt to take from my end.
Their feedback concentrates a lot on doing damage, which I guess they need to hold enmity. Maybe this is why I get confused though. I have no experience with tanking and yet I've come into 4.0 having no enmity issues, no TP issues and I took on Warrior. Most of the fixes I would read about in other threads made it sound a lot like "Take it back to how it was and let me set fire to the world." This gets confusing, mainly because we want to move forward and not backwards. Then again we rely on veterans such as yourself to give some insight.
The argument I'm sure is very old, beating a dead horse. I would suggest that it may be reacted to this way only because of the tone that the arguments are suggested in. Or more-so the tone. I'm not saying you're wrong, just making an observation on why things are like that.
I really do not know. I went through so far 70 with warrior, did Omega (was so fun!) and I never knew how to tank swap. I haven't had time to do Susano yet but the first night I did it I got the guy to 40% or so. I don't have any hate issues, but if you ask others they suddenly "don't have issues" or they get offended.
I agree there's some tweaking that needs to be done with tanks, I just don't think that STR boosting is the answer. Yet when you confront a veteran tank with the issue it is what they go to, and has a very strong tunnel vision mentality of what the fix would be.
