As a new player, running through the Praetorium dungeon was the worst

What about it? It's just a tiny bit over two minutes to go from beating the Ascian duo to fighting Ascian Prime. That's absolutely nothing compared to Prae and its multiple cutscenes.

That is like 2 mins not 30-40 mins of cutscenes, a big difference.

Unfortunately, Praetorium and Castrum remain a hold over from a bad design decision the devs have since learned from. The cut scenes average over 30 minutes in length, which no one in DF will wait, especially now that we overgear the content to such an extreme even DPS can pull and live just fine. Because of this, all dungeons cut scenes from here on out play either before or after you complete the dungeon itself.

The devs really should have put in a warning and/or recommendation to PF Praetorium and Castrum if you enjoy watching the cut scenes. Or just make the dungeon a solo-able instance. No one is queuing into it to help people through cut scenes. You're either watching them and missing all the fights or skipping them to participate.

You don't get Verity tomes for the MSQ roulette, you get Poetics.

You also get over half a million EXP if you're below 70. And because of how fast you can speed through either of them, even DPS queues are among the shortest for all roulettes. That's why people are doing it.

I'm not surprised by people forcing the run faster. They've been doing that since...What, I ran it a few months after ARR launched and they rushed me? Personally, I'll wait, I'll make sure the new person can find their way (I got lost my first time, no one bothered letting me know where I needed to go), and will sit outside fights while they are watching cutscenes, for what that is worth. I know I'm not in the majority, but still do it.

However, the idea that someone would see players watching cutscenes and decide to spoil things all teh way through Stormblood? That shouldn't happen, ever.

Especially with dps queues that can run 45 minutes or more and then for new people to expect those people to watch 30 minutes of cutscenes is a bit much. I understand the frustration but the best way to deal with these dungeons is to get a FC group together to watch them. I suspect even getting enough FC members to help might be difficult.

You know what's more annoying? First time in any dungeon, I am that polite and skip the cutscene, since you can rewatch them in the inn. Everybody else is watching em, I stand there 3+ minutes waiting lol.

I run these roulettes a lot and I will admit, as the tank or healer, I just rush through it. If I were to wait for someone to watch the cutscenes, it would take another 15mins.

As for your comment about being late to the party, umm.... you are about 5 years late. Yes, I know the game has not been out for 5 years, but I played during the beta and release. If you did not rush the MSQ and get to this dungeon within the first 5 months, then you were only able to get groups that were rushing through and telling you to just watch them in the inn.

I am sorry to say this, but the only game that cutscenes ever worked in was FFXI and that was because of the mentality of the players. When WoW came out, the idea of having any sort of cutscene was taken out of MMORPGs. WoW tried to add some, but if you were to look at all the ones they have now compare to FFXI, it is way less. Actually, I do not even know of another MMORPG that comes close to FF14's amount of cutscenes other than FFXI.

Just to give you an advice, like what others have said, if you want to experience the dungeon for the way it was designed and watch the cutscenes, then you need to find people who are willing to wait and not join a pug. It is the sad way of the gaming world, especially when people are doing content they out gear and is so old just to get things like poetics. But, to put some happy thought in it, be happy that there is a MSQ roulette. When I tried to do the dungeon way before even any of the Bahamut coils or extreme primals were being farmed, I spent over 30 mins just shouting for a team and having a PF up.

Unfortunately, many of us have already seen everything. While I'd never ever kick someone for watching the cutscenes, I'm not going to wait either. Some of those in ARR took for freaking ever, and I'm just trying to get my daily roulette done.

I'd recommend doing that stuff with friends or PF if you wanna watch then fight, and as others said they made the right move and changed that for HW/SB

Mi first time was the same, i was so mad that i just give up and enjoy the cutscenes and chill, now as a main tank i dont have problems to wait for the newnplayers but
