    I find it amazing I need so many things just to play the game reliably (PS4)

    So currently, with the server side disaster which is Stormblood, I have had to put my PS4 through its paces, buy a backup battery and now, apparently, I need to get a VPN (or however that is called) like WTFast or something just to play the game reliably.

    To reiterate, currently, there is an error that if you turn off your PS4 or you lose power suddenly, you have re-download the whole of FFXIV which is 23.8 gigs apparently. To prevent this, my PS4 has not been properly shut down in weeks (using rest mode) and a battery backup had to be put up.

    Then, we have the fiasco that started with 4.01, anyone and everyone playing on an NA server that is not in the NA landmass (I am in Puerto Rico, so this affects me) will suffer through constant and persistent disconnects one after the other. Mostly happening in dungeons but can happen anywhere. So now I hear that the only way to fix this reliably is to use a VPN. Guess what, I am on PS4, time to start research into VPNs to see if I can put my PS4 through it.

    Only other alternative to a VPN is to wait for SE to address the issue, but you know as well as I do that they will not so slow its as if they are not doing anything or that they are not gonna do anything at all because the majority of their player base is happy.

    Stormblood is an amazing expansion that has been punched, stabbed and otherwise ruined by server shenanigans like poor capacity or DDoS attacks.

    What else is going to happen? That I can't play at all unless I move to a pre-specified server? Come on people, things need addressing and fast!

    As for the download issue Sony is looking into it, it is a Sony issue and not much SE can do to address the issue.

    You can turn your PS4 off! I've been doing so daily. It's just unexpected shutdowns causing the issue. I also exit FFXIV before I power off each night. Not sure whether a VPN will help with the other issue as it seems mostly unrelated to region and platform.

    The issue with FFXIV only occurs if there is a power outage while you are actively playing FFXIV or have it running in the background. So, actually, by keeping it in rest mode, you've been increasing your chances of causing an issue (assuming that you don't close out FFXIV before turning on rest mode).

    Please post a tracert so people can actually find out if it's a routing issue or actually a Square Enix issue. Square Enix can't do shit if it's hopping through Level-3 and Level-3 is fucked up in Toronto etc. (Everyone I know hates Level-3.)

    Come on really? I don't even know were to start with this. IF you don't understand how the modes for your PS4 I would really suggest reading the instruction manual or getting a dictionary out and translate the screen when you place it in power saving mode.

    IF you think you need a VPN service ( Its an option. )your wrong there a lot of factors that can affect your connection. Downloading updates while playing, other users on different internet needed devices that eat up your bandwidth. I have a dedicated line for my gaming and thankfully don't share it. I don't use other services, and connections have improved since early release so issues are being address. Also SE isn't forcing anyone it's called an OPTION with an incentive for the inconvenience. If your fairly new to online games and expansions for gaming consoles it makes sense you would feel this way. However this is a pretty common thing for new releases and over the years , it has gotten better. DDos attacks are just trolls that have nothing better to do or try to prove themselves in the underground which is kind of sad. Well GL to you and please take some responsibility for your actions and read the instruction manual if simple things don't make sense to you. I know we all think it's common sense but common sense is a dieing trait now a days. No offense but come on !!

    He's correct on the "VPN will solve the disconnects" thing.

    As a Swedish player on Excalibur, after the DDoS shenanigans that were going on before the update, I've been more or less unable to play the game as well.
    Constant disconnects as soon as I try to use any skills, mount up, teleport etc.
    Were unable to play dungeons or do fates and so on.

    I stupidly teleported to Quarrymill and instantly got the 90002 error, then after that every time I logged in I would get disconnected with the 90002 error since my character were still in Quarrymill.

    Tried logging in with WTFast and now I'm able to play again with 0 disconnects.
    It's ridiculous that I'm being forced into using a vpn service after being able to play this game up until now perfectly fine without one.

    I need to make a habit of completely shutting down my PS4 verses resting it, as it doesn't seem to matter if SB is even running. If the PS4 loses power while in rest mode, it corrupts FFXIV.

    It was one thing I was hoping would be fixed with 4.1 since this is a new issue with SB.... But if it's an error on Sony's end, it could take months to get fixed!

    One thing I saw suggested was to upload the FFXIV info to the "cloud" so that if it happens, just reload it from there. Not sure if it works(I always put my PS4 to rest mode, while FF is running - either suspended or active) when I go to sleep.

    Had one instance where we lost power at home, and didn't have the issue. Not sure if it's because I have the "automatic upload game save info"(or whatever that setting is) active or not, but I've not had any issues other than the PS4 itself saying it wasn't shut down properly and doing it's check(which I just go grab a drink/snack if I see that and come back a little later).

    SE haven't issued any response to the 90k errors.

    It's very frustrating that this happens on the release of a new raid, even more cheeky they email me about it when I've been trying to get in and unable to through the last 24 hours.
