Patch note suggestion.

I've brought this up during previous patch notes and I will keep bringing it up because it's a recurring issue that's continuing to bother me, using the current patch notes as a reference:

New items have been added.

New mounts have been added.

New minions have been added.

This is what bothers me, I don't like the lack of information and I will continue to argue that we need more information about this and I don't mean the lackluster "this minion has been added" or "this mount has been added." In my opinion, the patch notes need more information on specifically where to obtain everything.

I.E.

For the new items that have been added it should just say "new crafting and gathering gear can be obtained from this vendor, this piece costs X amount of scrips, this piece costs Y amount of scrips."

For the mount they showed, "the new magitek predator mount has been added! It can be found on a low drop rate in this dungeon or by completing this achievement."

For the minions, "new minions have been added! They can be found off this boss or have been added to wondrous tails."

Let me add, I don't care at all about spoilers and have never enjoyed surprises of any kind. I don't care about what story is ruined if they tell us how to obtain a certain mount or minion, I just want to know "where is the thing and how do I get it?" Compare to Blizzard's way of doing patch notes where they specifically tell us where to find every new item, mount, and minion they add each patch which is, in my opinion, vastly superior to how the devs in this game are doing it.

Hell if it's really an issue, add a spoiler section to the patch notes that fully detail the run down on where to find everything so that people who would prefer to be surprised don't have to deal with it.

Sometimes they withhold information to not crash markets before patches. Otherwise, at least they're not Nintendo. You want to know what the patch notes for Zelda Breath of the Wild included? One line: "Adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience."

i support this as well! i'd like to know what i'm supposed to be doing to work towards the things i'd like in game. as it stands now we don't even get a full list of what's been added.

With expansion launches, literally hundreds of new items are added. They can't realistically list them all because of the amount of room that would take. As a result, I think they just collate the 3 into "New X has been added" to try and keep the patch notes readable for people, and simply stick with it for consistency's sake. I know if they went into that, I'd probably balk at the size of the patch notes (I struggled with reading the SB patch notes because of the sheer amount of stuff in it). Though the Eorzea Database, you can actually filter it by items added in the latest patch, ED being something SE made for FFXIV. And I believe that tells you crafting recipes, etc. Failing that, there's always XIVDB.

No, I didn't. I guess I didn't really realize that SE delivers some of the best patch notes that you see in game patches, and they're fairly atypical for a Japanese company in that regard. Guess I'll go make a forum post about it.

The dev team sometimes likes the idea of people playing the game to enjoy it and discover things for themselves, instead of handing them an encyclopedia, an almanac, and a shopping catalog with each patch, and this is totally fine.

We don't need a complete manifesto of every change ever.

Blame the data miners. They spoil everything, so the developers can not reveal the details until everyone has had a chance to discover this stuff themselves. It may not matter to you, but it matters quite a bit to people who read the patch notes to see what things changed to their job/role and and where to start new content.

Remove The Royal Menagerie from main story and make it a optional primal battle side quest.
