    RDM May Need Separate Gear Line from Other Casters - Spell Speed

    I noticed a lot of the Omega gear for RDMs has spell speed, which happens because RDM is put in the same gear pool as other casters. The unique problem for RDM, however, is that it's the one caster class where spell speed is a dead stat.

    This is because the Jolt/Verstone/Verfire cast time is already so low and otherwise RDMs will be using dual cast. Hence, spell speed has practically no marginal benefit. I heard that SE saw a similar issue with Ninjas and split them off from other melee DDs, maybe SE needs to do the same for RDM?

    What are you talking about? Spell Speed is not a dead stat. It helps BLMs A LOT to speed up their slow spells. Besides that Spell Speed also adds to DoT dmg for Miasma, Bio 2, Shadow Flare, Thunder Spells etc so BLM and SMN benefit a lot.

    Please read. The OP is saying it's a dead stat for RDM. Nowhere did he talk about BLM and SMN.

    RDM has no dots and also has a less than 2 sec cast time on jolt/verfire/verstone/scatter/impact/vercure, combined with innate swiftcast making spell speed not a major concern for RDM compared to BLM or SMN.

    Speed should still lower the GCD, no? Also Ninja was a result of poor planning and (speculation here) wanting to be able to have gear that does not look the same as bard. I'm willing to bet their thought process was:

    Ninja comes from thief
    Thieves should use dexterity instead of strength
    We don't want ninjas to look like bard
    Let's pollute the loot pool with another unique melee set

    They should have just put DEX on all the monk stuff and made them share. That's actually what they did with pre-ninja gear, but I guess they though it'd be OP for monk to get some free parry (lol). Then they made DEX no longer give parry so now it does literally nothing for monk and there's no excuse, but we're already too far down the rabbit hole.

    You do realize that not every tier is designed to cater specifically to one job to every finite detail, right? Like how Scholars might get moody because the healer tier may not have crit chance or Monks complaining about Striking tier having too much skill speed? Just feel like that needs to be thrown out there.

    No one job will ever have perfect stat optimization on a full raid set. It's almost like it's the devs way of telling us not to worry about ludicrously finite hardcore details and just enjoy the game.

    Sadly, telling people who want to push to the max and get the most out of their min maxing theorycrafting hoeymaloeey to get those big waffle dps numbers never ends well. You may as well ask them not to breathe, asking those type of people to simply enjoy a game is of the highest blasphemy :P Even though as far as I've seen in the games history, min maxing to the max hasn't really seemed all that necessary unless you're aiming for world firsts or just want to see the biggest of numbers >.> <.< >.>

    Minmaxing is how they enjoy this game lol

    At the very least Grade VI materia can make up a *ton* of the slack for gear right now.
