So in the new Omega content we have Nero joining in the solo duty using a gunblade and appears to use some pretty fancy skills. Might be good as a new tank class? Although yes we already have 2 sword wielding ones, and the gunblade may have similar PLD and MCH skills but....

Could this be a hint at the next new job in the future?

I was actually wondering about that myself. A tank job wielding a gunblade and using magitech would do a lot to get people tanking.

We have seen these animations and stance before with:

Gaius: Used gunblade - had this stance
Fordola: Used gunblade - had this stance
Nero: Used gunblade - had this stance

You can see the same animations being used in both the Gaius 2.0 solo fight(https://youtu.be/lA8hy5WWxvY at 4:15) and again with Fordola solo fight(https://youtu.be/zbMgju95vqw at 8:25) but you can tell with them both doing the lazy version of the RDM sword swipe attack. I think it wasnt as noticeable before because both Gaius and Fordola had flashier attacks during the battle whereas Nero is right beside us doing simple attacks.

This. Also, given how much devs seem to adhere to historical references in terms of weapon styles, they'd probably know full well that gunblades are actually really impractical weapons.

Actually, that's a stance for a saber-type weapon (can't quite remember which one). Their generic triple slash move doesn't really have anything to do with the Red Mage's Zwercchau attack.

I'd prefer a job that uses Nero's former weapon, the gun-hammer thing in praetorium. I was actually disappointed to see he wasn't using that anymore, though I suppose the standard issue gunblade he uses now is more portable
