YUP! Not only is that Boko but its the Boko from the Chocobo's Dungeon Series! He even uses the same emotes!Omega is a throwback to FFV. It makes sense that the creature we'll have as a companion guiding us through this raid is Boko, Bartz very companion. This raid story revolves around Omega creating random stuff and sending us through multiple dimensions.
By the way, Alexander's plot revolved around a freaking cat and silly goblins.
So, yeah, Alpha's appearence doesn't fit in FFXIV. But that's the point. Omega talks to us via hoping TV monitors, random geometrical shapes fly through the area... Everything about this dimension doesn't make sense in FFXIV's world.
If you don't understand that, then you miss half the point of Omega's story.

I actually enjoyed the fights in the first tier of Omega, were they easy yeah they are pretty easy but i felt the fights were engaging and had some interesting aspects to them. I have been enjoying the throw backs to other games like the bosses from FF7 and now some of the bosses in FF5 showing up in this raid the final boss was a surprise to me and since i loved ff5 i greatly enjoyed seeing some of those bosses again. i was really happy to see Boko show up chocobo dungeon was a great game(I want him as a minion).

Which is why I described the kind of player I am. I am not even average most likely when it comes to time-investment, practice and my equipment of the main job at this time. I am not a raider, have not been, and will never be, who goes for first-kills and such. I one-shot or two-shot this raid on a badly equipped melee DPS with the random dutyfinder people. That is, by definition, the general player.
Of course, if we are talking of the general player as the most disinterested, distracted, out-of-practice and intentionally misplaying person we can find, then of course this is still some form of challenge. But it baffles me why they put a raid where EVERY fight is significantly simpler (and easier. Those are not the same thing) behind Shinryu. The playerbase has already proven to be better. All of us, aside from those few carried by overgeared trial roulette groups through Shinryu, have proven to be perfectly capable of much more. Susano Ex and Lakshmi Ex are called rather easier (and I disagree on that front), yet Omega is easier.
This does not make sense to me. A casual mainstream player like me without any preparation, not using food, pots, anything at all, in a random duty roulette with nobody having any clue whatsoever, and its still a oneshot/two-shot kill?
Musics a disappointment and the chocobo is rather annoying. Yes I know its all from other games but I wont be going to youtube to re listen to all the songs as much as I have done with Alexander. The gear makes sense and fans of For Honor will like'em for obvious reasons but I find'em uninteresting for a fantasy game.
I also find it funny how people got hot and bothered by the 3.55 title spoiling things. Yoshida later apologized while they did it again with the V4 minion.
6/10
(I haven't played many of the 2D ATTACK/MAGIC/ITEM games.)

Been years since using this forum. @_@
Seems like the longer we get away from 1.0 lore, the more the game turns into "Generic Final Fantasy MMO" as opposed to a game with unique story and enemies.
I have yet to be clueless on any of the fights as its the nature of the beast. People have learned how bosses in this game indicate mechanics and how most will more often then not work. Only difference between Savage and normal is damage output and a few extra mechanics. Only thing Savage raiders are learning doing savage bosses for the first time is the new mechanics. No one can help that they know how to handle things like marks over their heads, telegraphs on the ground, goo on the floor.Which is why I described the kind of player I am. While I get the point, you're literally comparing an entrance cutscene of the first raid tier of which we don't even know the conclusion for yet, with the ending cutscene of a last raid tier where all the pieces have fallen into place. So a questionably canon comic relief side quest and what i'm pretty sure is just a very common trope for japanese media.
The game doesn't have to be 100% serious all the time but you can't blame people for not respecting this story
(mild omega spoiler)
'
as much as they respected this one

I feel a lot of people here are just looking for something to nitpick about.
Player
Also the emptiness is made to convey the blank canvas Omega is able to work with. We came into his world and from that very moment he was able to erase us if he so chose. While I get the point, you're literally comparing an entrance cutscene of the first raid tier of which we don't even know the conclusion for yet, with the ending cutscene of a last raid tier where all the pieces have fallen into place.

I have to disagree. I thought all the fights were really fun and some of the most imaginative stuff we've gotten. LEAGUES better than Gordias. Much more fun. Maybe not as fun as the third Alex tier, but I don't expect it to be just yet.
Its not at all what I expected, do I'm pleasantly surprised. I won't be doing Savage for a while, but I bet its gonna be really cool to watch the race for that when it is released.
It is true that those cutscenes are in very different places in their narratives, but I think we're all able to guess how much investment we will be able to put on this raid's cast come its final arc, and compare it to the dramatic weight of the game's first raid. I for one can't predict an outcome where that sapient plush toy will even hold a candle to Alisae's very personal journey through the coils. While I get the point, you're literally comparing an entrance cutscene of the first raid tier of which we don't even know the conclusion for yet, with the ending cutscene of a last raid tier where all the pieces have fallen into place.

I was really hoping for Nero and Cid's relationship to be at the forefront of the story and its development. Now I fear it's just going to be all about why this moe blob chicken is here and why everyone is taking it seriously.
And I {scar} thought they {scar} couldn't get worse than {scar} Mide =.=
