We're participating in his game because he intends to fabricate enough monsters to massacre most of Hydaelyn. He went from a robot made to capture Bahamut to something borderline omnipotent.

Right, it was a surprise and I can't say it was a pleasant one.The second boss was really hard for me thanks to colorblindness but once I found the safe spots and saw that the one tentacle stops moving, I was able to manage. I was just discussing with my FC about how forgiving the majority of these mechanics are this time. Which is both good and bad, I guess.
I was just all fanboy over the FFV stuff, I admit it, but I really didn't think the end boss would be that, I was expecting Necrophobe, because I thought they'd save the tree for the next one like they did Xande. Incidentally I wonder if Greg will help with Necrophobe if he/it shows up....
Exdeath deserved a lot more. I mean, CoD was the last boss in her raid and Exdeath could have been a lot more epic than what it turned out taking into account all the void stuff. Maybe, he'll come back later.
There's a difference between the objective goal of Omega, which is fine, and the tone and feel of Omega, which is what's broken in my opinion.

Omega and Omega Weapon are two different beings in Final Fantasy.
Omega has always been a robot where as Omega Weapon in VIII and X are two different organic beings, the latter being someone who turned into the creature.
Could you explain then?
I personally do not feel that the tone and feel of omega is broken in any ways. All of its actions, and assessments, thus far have perfectly fit in line with its stated objectives, including the creation of Alpha to act as bait to lure hero class entities into its testing zone. The declaration of war scene was also great.

Large swaths but isn't it your (singular) opinion? I've only seen two posts so far that say the story's not that good, or that Omega's presentation isn't to their liking.
To me, the story is a little bit more threatening than Alexander, because while we do have a Chocobo with us, it's not like we have to listen to Goblinspeak 90% of the time, and Ms. I-Touch-My-Scar-So-Much.

♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥

This was my reaction. I was watching his hp dropping near the end and going "Laws of the Universe mean nothing? Is something going to happen? Neo Exdeath?"
As someone pointed out though, if there is a Neo Exdeath in the works it almost certainly will show itself in the savage version, ala the extra form of Brute Justice from A8S.
Meaning I won't get to see it until the fight is irrelevant and nobody cares about it anymore. Sadface.

Gotta say, FFXIV is my first final fantasy with FFXV being something i follow on the side and while other references/homages in FFXIV have been fine to me, this raid crosses the line towards laziness.
The charm of FFXIV imo was that i couldnt tell what was reference and what was 1.0 stuff. The crystal tower was woven into Allagan lore, Sky pirates fit into the sky. All FFXI model ports fit sorta (except some of them are too low res)
The new raid is just a paperthin excuse for lazy fanservice. No FFXIV take on the bosses. No direction. Just port em in and let the fans have a go.
I did not know crystal tower wasnt FFXIV related until after i played it. I did not know Alexander was a summon as his arkitecture is definately sharlayan in my mind. Alpha? Sticks out like a sore thumb. Omega didnt bother me as in 3.55 we thought him to be allagan. I thought they were going to take a ffxiv spin on the classic. Nope.
Namedrops and shared concepts are a given in Final Fantasy as i have come to understand it. But isnt the point of them to make regulars feel welcome while allowing newcomers to have a seat at the table? I dont go watch Star Wars episode 8 to see Darth Vader and Obi Wan have a wack at each others.

Just play the games or read a wiki article. You just sound like you're that upset about feeling left out. FFXIV does stand out on its own being a shout out to the series. Besides the story of Omega explains clearly that it's not just thrown in for the sake of it you already admitted ignorance, Omega has always been a time traveling interdimensional being in FFV, TAY, XII and XIII-2 why would XIV be different? It's Omega that's his thing. As for Alexander, why be upset at him? He's always been in a number of titles. He's a recurring summon from the series as a whole along with Ifrit and Shiva.
