    PvP Exp: Nerf and thoughts

    Hello,

    As everyone knows, patch 4.01 brought with it some substantial nerfs to PvP EXP. How hard did it get hit, exactly?

    Well, to get the OLD values of exp (for this example, roughly 600k at level 60) you now need to get FIRST PLACE.

    1st place: 600k (old values)
    2nd place: 400k (2/3 of old values)
    3rd place: 400k (2/3 of old values)

    What does this mean?

    It means PvP is not longer an efficient method of farming EXP unless you have a full premade of players that can carry your team to a win every single game. Not only that, but 2nd place is rewarded the same as 3rd place. That means there is NO incentive for 2nd place in terms of EXP. Also, the average player will win 33.33% of games while losing 66.66% of games. Does that seem fun? Not to me.

    Does this stop the AFKers?

    No. If anything, it will make it worse since the ratio of active participants is almost certainly going to decrease. Botters don't care about the speed of leveling, they just care that they don't have to actively do it.

    My suggestions:


    Winning should have received further incentives instead of just gutting the rewards. Do you know how you get people to stop participating in a game mode? By making them have to work harder just to be rewarded with the same as they did the day before, but for less work. An example of what would actually make sense:

    1st place: 900k EXP
    2nd place 700k EXP
    3rd place: 600k EXP

    "But that won't stop the AFKers!"


    Yeah, and nothing will unless the make the EXP literally 0.

    This is an absolutely horrible idea and change. If anything they should have just increased exp gain for a win and not reduced the losing sides. Or added an auto kick function after a certain amount of time for people not doing damage/healing to players/ice.

    Yup, I won't be doing it anymore now. I'll have to find something else to help me level my Samurai. Probably palace.

    EDIT: I just did a palace run and I didn't get nearly as much as I would in the new front line, even if I lost. Seems like its still a good way to level. I'll stick with it.

    since ur going to lose more often than win, in ideal conditions, they should have had it normal for 2nd place, -100K for last, and +100K for 1st.
    this would even out to the same. (again, in ideal conditions)

    Also, matches that end too quickly give less exp too.
    Which imo is also bad, as at least u felt somewhat in control, as u would help speed up the match to a conclusion, when ur team was too far behind. But now, there's nothing you can do in either direction, and just feels boring.

    This is a great change, but more still needs to be done. If you come last, you should get a substantially lower amount to coming 2nd, not just 200k less experience than being 1st. It should serve a huge motivation boost for everyone on the team if everybody wants to become first... instead of just afk'ing and/or allowing teammates to afk.

    I think having 2nd and 3rd give the same amount was the right move. Instead of having the 3rd place team double up on the 2nd place team in hopes of getting more exp, they're encouraged to take down the 1st place team for a chance at winning.

    No, I think people are upset that the RNG of whether you get a team that gives a @#$@ or not determines how much character XP your time is worth.
    PvP currency and PvP XP? sure, makes sense
    Participation rewards (tomes, character XP, etc.)? Not so much

    How many people would DF dungeons if the amount of XP you received was determined by how many wipes your party received (no deaths = full xp, 1+deaths = half xp) and/ore how long it took to complete the dungeon?

    To solve this problem, they just have to make 3rd place reward very low/no experience points. It'll push away all the players that just want to afk for easy exp and have players actually work together and create team comps that work.

    Except you're forgetting the part that even if it worked EXACTLY that way and it was all try hards a third of the players every game receive nothing, how the hell is that any fun? The rewards for winning should be for gear, glamours, items, not experience.
