    [SPOILERS] Revelations from Patch 4.01

Will be working my way through updating an OP as I go along, but one cutscene into Omega is enough for it to appear that it has greater cosmological ramifications than the entire MSQ, lol.

    TURN 1
    • The Allagans DID NOT create Omega.
    • Omega is from another world.
    • Midgardsormr knows of this world.
    • Omega can weave aether into life.
    • The machina hangs out in the rift to test unfinished products, as creating life weakens it.
    • It creates such life to self-improve by combating the strongest enemies it can find and/or conceive.

    TURN 3
    • This is not limited to real concepts; imaginary ones work just fine.
    • Halicarnassus and the Dimension Castle is a popular folktale rooted in the 4th Astra Era, most likely

    TURN 4
    • Exdeath is likewise an old folktale.
    • Cid is curious why Omega would choose defeated villains rather than victorious ones.
Moose Posits: To test the WOL? To find the champion of the tales that would signal their coming in defeating them?
    • More to the point, Omega has discerned that "heroes" that achieve impossible victories occur too often to be statistically acceptable anomalies and wishes to test us, holding humanity on Hydaelyn hostage to stress us enough to bring out our potential.

    Ancient Tomestone
    • Written by an anonymous technologist 170 years after Xande's death, confirming aetherochemistry was invented under his reign.
    • Omega first activated 150 years after Xande's death
    • Omega first discovered 50 years after Xande's death (underground for incalculable time).
    • Its AI learned the Allagan tongue in moments
    • It had come from another planet and was covered in damage which was slowly being undone by consumption of aether.
    • Allag aided in its recovery and studied its mechanics.
    • Omega forced the face on its back to mimic the Allagans.

Great, no one knows where Omega is from!

No one knew where FF5 Omega was from either.

Things like this always make me nervous, lol. On one hand, it's possible (often likely) that the similarities are merely loyalty to theme; that both are independent entities that come from elsewhere. On the other hand, SE has to know they're kicking a hornet nest and many will assume the entities are one and the same and the games are thus now intrinsically linked forever. And yet ... what if one day they are?

All I can do is hold the twin bulwarks of what is confirmed and what might fit on the edge of Occam's Razor.

If they end up being connected, I'm gonna laugh if the longstanding rivalry between it and Shinryu was actually with Midgardsormr.

Final Fantasy Mobius covered this part as all FF world are connected to each other through the Aether river that carries the souls of the people from all FF world. If a person should die in their FF world they may ether be reborn into the FF world or are carried off to a new FF world to live a new live.

    It's literally
    Exdeath
same character, same personality, it's him from Final Fantasy V
Now can people stop memeing? Square went back on their word that FFXIV is its own thing and void or not a character from a FF game that's not part a arguably non canon event showed up.

Yep this is Exdeath from FFV. From the looks of it this is him before he entered the world of FFV because he has yet to learn how to control the Void which gave him the power we know he has in FFV. Here he has just "finally" obtained the power to control the Void.

Omega raid could actually be a prequel to FFV storyline setting events that would lead to what FFV world becomes.

I also believe Alpha may actually be young Boco who is Bartz's chocobo.

If Gilgamesh returns for Omega storyline later as well it would also explain how Gilgamesh ended up in FFV.

However, this is only part of things as it seems Omega is trying to recreate position where Heroes battle great threats being FF Antagonists and win

This may actually be a Dissidia Storyline for FF14 WoL.

We know the worlds of FF are all part of a Multiverse and some FF worlds are part of the same Universe but on different planets and are also connected to each other.

Hmm, why does spoiler mark not count to word count..

Well, considering Exdeath is seen as "folklore" in this game, perhaps the other FF games are simply played by Allagans back in the day lore-wise :P

"Memeing?" I didn't know there was a meme surrounding that.

Either way it doesn't change anything - the Interdimensional Rift is widely acknowledged to be the link between various Final Fantasy worlds, and it serves that purpose here as well. The point of contention people have with the issue is people constantly parroting there's a direct link between Hydaelyn and various other Final Fantasy worlds, especially Ivalice, due to the myriad name references. The Interdimensional Rift, a place explicitly beyond Hydaelyn's borders, changes nothing.

I'm not a fan of the multiverse theory, because thinking rationally, since there hasn't been a consistent hand at the wheel since 2001, there's no way all these teams were thinking about anything beyond the current work. Some writers like Nojima feel differently, and try to link their worlds together (see the X-2->VII retcon), but those should be considered exceptions, and not the rule.

I think it's better to think of it as each game has its own multiverse containing the other games' worlds in some form, but those multiverses do not connect with each other. You have to consider the lore of the source game as well as XIV to determine the validity of the connection. For example, while it may be tempting to think of the fallen thirteenth shard as "the FFIII world" because of the Cloud of Darkness, her presence there in a different form of existence than she had in FFIII is what actually rules out the possibility of a direct link.
